Stretchy Chain?

So the sprocket carrier's supposed to be a light grey aluminium colour, then? ( mine certainly isn't )

neither is mine, that's why I commented.
A friend of mine has a bike the same age, more miles and still comes out gleaming 
I've got cleaning products, cloths, tooth brushes even but it just doesn't come out as clean as I would like. 
I think I'll just execpt the fact that I have a dirty bike

New chain & sprockets a month or so back, maybe he put new nuts on it, never noticed them to be honest, or it might have been the  reflecting that blinded me!

Well I've done it, had a new chain and sprockets fitted. Now it feels like I have a new bike, what a difference. It is so much quieter and there is no snatching whilst going along slowly or coming out of corners.
I have also copied the idea of using a bit of plant pot to extend the chain guard, I heated it up to mould it up to the inside of the guard and then almost flattened out the rest to hang over another few inches. So now the back left of the bike is staying clean.
Good results all round.
