LAST WEDNESDAY NIGHT A41 FINCHLEY ROAD - A very nice Audi decided he would turn right into a side road.   I was travelling north in the bus lan, as I am legally allowed to do, and the two lanes to my right where nose to tail cars.   Two cars stopped to let the Audi turn right and he did so without stopping to see if the bus lane was clear and into the side of him I go.......  Luckily I was only doing 15 mph but still managed to smash the front bumper, scratch the front light lens, bend the forks and as I toppled to the ground broke the break leaver and hand guard.....   As always the cry was... I didn't see you... you shouldn't have been there and it was only an accident....  Yes you didn't see me because you where negligent and didn't look, yes I am allowed in the bus lane and there is no such thing as an accident.... negligence yes....   Suspected fractured wrist, bruised ribs.... and due to the miles I do and the age of the bike.... they may right the bike off.  :icon_no:

First accident in 21 years so can't complain, I walked away so can't complain and we are both insured with the same firm so I can't complain.....

Not nice to read, thankfully you're OK. I could say a lot more but getting on my  :dl_soapbox: isn't of interest to you. Hope you get everything sorted out soon.

Good to hear you’re ‘okay’. Had a similar event myself many years ago, thankfully you were aware enough to lessen the consequences.  :thumb:
Sadly two blokes locally in the last couple of days have not been so fortunate.
Remember people, it’s that time of year again, drivers have spent all winter forgetting about motorcycles, and as a result are not yet aware we exist. They’re out of the habit of looking for something with such a tiny frontal area, arriving at any speed faster than a pushbike so take extra care.
Don’t worry, by the end of the summer they’ll be up to speed.. then round and round the cycle will go again.

Well I managed to ride mine today without getting a soaking.
From West London down to a very quiet Boxhill.

Tutoro chain oiler set to one half a turn out from closed for a wet chain with hardly any fling.

Speedy recovery Nickb65 :thumb:

I think I managed to break the number plate light holder at the back trying to change the bulb. One of the nuts under the rear mudguard came straight off but the other only came part way off then just  :dl_hyperhysteria: and  :dl_hyperhysteria: and   :dl_hyperhysteria: think I need to buy a nut splitter tomorrow then see if it's repairable.

Also cleaned the brakes only to discover the front left has a dust seal that looks like it's trying to escape. Bugger!!

I did exactly the same yesterday with the lamp holder. One nut came off, the other has brought the stud out of the abs housing. Hoping to araldite it back in when I've done Hondaman's trick of cutting out behind the reflector.

The Aunt Bessie indicator brightening mod was started today in a fit of cynical boredom. Bloody hell, it works!! Best money I've never spent on lighting. Finished the Hondaman behind-the-reflector number plate light mod, and forgot to buy araldite to fix the wayward stud back in the lamp housing.

And I replaced the bulb in mine...

Bloody hell that's got to be the worst design for bulb replacement I've come across!! My wayward stud just was just spinning around and around but stuck fast in the plastic surround. In the end I managed to pull the light off, drill out the stud and crack the plastic plate/bulb holder in two... at this point I ordered a spare, but being bored I decided to try plastic welding with my soldering iron & a cable tie. That seemed to work so new bulb in, and all back together. Only took the best part of a day...  lol  :bawl:

Really I should have just bought a new reflector and some number plate screw lights...!!  Never mind, I may try the reflector mod when my spare one turns up.

Nothing again, I tried to sneak into the man cave earlier on this evening just as one of my son's and his partner came around. But on the plus side I did find out that I'm going to be a granddad again. :thumb:
