New Member - first vstrom..loving it so far !
« on: May 31, 2016, 18:32:04 »
Hello all - markymark from Basingstoke, owned 2 or more bikes a year since I started on an fs1e at 16 back in 1976 (yes that old lol) and have always had fast 4 cylinders, ZX10 GSXR FZS1000 GSX1250 etc etc but really fancied having a more relaxing ride now I'm in my mid 50's for a few years and have to say absolutely loving the comfy upright Vstrom. I have a 2013 Blue DL650 AL3 ABS with Givi engine bars, hand guards, mudguard extenda, front fork brace, Beak Peak, R&G rad protector & rear bobbins with a tuturo chain oiler and centre stand so pretty much like an xt with alloys. Anyway looking forward to gaining knowledge from the forums so hi to all !

Welcome MarkyMark11. I was 55 last week, unfortunately (or fortunately) I still think I'm 23. It's not until I hear the noises I make when I stand up, or the aches I have the day after working on the car or the 'bike I realise my body's age.

My Dad retired at 55 and and joined the bowls and golf clubs, I started doing trackdays 3 years ago thanks to Earthcore. Going on rideouts and the banter on here with like minded delusionals reinforces the mindset.
To be happy, I don't need private helicopters,a Florida house or a yacht. I'm fine with my motorcycle,a trip to a forest in Bavaria and some lunch money.

dear mr wurzel....my FS1e would eat Fantic Caballero's, it had a skimmed head and numerous other mods etc and would only run on 5 star petrol reaching over a genuine 49mph so there...lol...I told my wife about it the other day and she swore that I was senile and rubbed her hands together thinking about the life insurance policy that was obviously about to come into fruition - there never was such a thing as 5 star petrol she said...mind you she had never heard of opal fruits or marathon bars either...ah well, the down side of a younger wife :)
