Fitted a pair of bobbins to the swing arm ready for the paddock stand.....not very exciting but that was all I could manage in today's conditions. 😆

Me, being decrepit, now use a front wheel chock stand and then lift the rear on a padock stand on my SV.  Not only is a 'drop' in the garage expensive, but I need help to pick it up.
This doesn't last forever, so do it while you can.

Last weekend I washed my bike and prepared it for winter, I am not planning to go out till :sunny:.
I have a few things to do over the winter, the main job is changing the electrical output (cigarette lighter socket). I found the male power plug of my satnav and phone charger keep falling out when riding. Therefore, I want to fit a power output plug which locks when used. It must also be dual purpose, not only as a power output but can be used to connect a trickle charger when the bike is not used over the winter months.

Cleaned it, cleaned the brake pistons and then covered it in ACF50 and ACF50 corrosion block grease. Also inspected the wear on the front sprocket as I think it's approaching 25,000 miles (pic below) - this was an OEM sprocket. I think I've only adjusted the D.I.D. chain two or three times in all these miles (JT rear sprocket)

Fitted some hand guards to My DL250 today. Spotted a bloke on YouTube from Alaska who was comparing a $10 and $20 set for his RE Himalayan. The $20 set were quite solid and looked like Barkbusters so got myself a pair from amazon for £20.
They were quite fiddly to fit. The bar end fittings supplied were useless, the DL250 uses 6mm bolts in the bar ends, 8mm bolts are supplied. The fittings for inside the bars were also wrong.
I made my own 6mm bolts from a length of 6mm threaded rod from Toolstation with Stainless steel dome nuts on the end and transferred the inner rubbers and washers over to the new bolts.   I will keep the original 6mm bolts as spares.
It took quite a while to get the brackets to line up correctly, especially on the brake master cylinder side. I had to move the brake cylinder over slightly to get everything lined up.
Thankfully, the hand guard support bars are bendable, with a bit of effort, which helped to get the supports in line without excess strain at the bar ends.
I will attach some pics which should help anyone attempting this job to get the brackets in line.
Dave.

Are they standard mirrors?  They look quite nice and not at all like the van mirrors Suzuki fit to Stroms

Had a disaster on my way to Liverpool - my heated jacket wire came loose on the M62 at Huddersfield and caught in the chain  :bawl: was bloody cold the rest of the way. Am not looking forward to the ride back tonight  :bawl:

What's worse is I used to carry a spare adaptor to plug it in to the Optimate lead, but after 7 years of not using it I lent it to my brother in August for his second bike  :dl_smiley_banghead:

BUGGER.
To be happy, I don't need private helicopters,a Florida house or a yacht. I'm fine with my motorcycle,a trip to a forest in Bavaria and some lunch money.

Your day could have been worse.....

I Rode to work this morning - happened upon the aftermath of a motorcycle accident on the A308 towards staines. Old classic BMW - in pieces, oil on the road.  Police in attendance - no sign of rider or amb. Hope they are OK.
If it has two wheels.. I'll ride it.

That sounds horrid. Hopefully no-one was badly injured.

Coming back didn't feel as cold as this morning, although the engine temperature guage dropped to two bars a couple of times on the M62... I don't think I've seen that before so either the anti-freeze needs changing or I need to block up the radiator...

Had a quick look in the garage and I have a spare lead for the jacket  :lala:  I'm also thinking I might see about using the heated insoles (via a temperature controller) and either dig out the lobster gloves and heated glove liners, or replace the handguards with some bar muffs to help with the heated grips as I'm getting too old for this cold malarkey  :old:

Bought a rear wheel for my bike as the old one has a big dent in it. Cost £80 from a well known auction site rather than £709 from Suzuki. I sell 4 Mazda alloys for less than that. Someone in pricing is having a laugh.

Tear down and clean + ACF. Chain clean + oiled. I must say the chain looks new, 14K into ownership. Sprockets similar.
If it has two wheels.. I'll ride it.

Fitted some heel guards to cover the paint that keeps getting rubbed off. Got these from motodiscovery.  I went for the black ones rather than the silver ones. They are good quality and have the Vstom logo cut out. They stick on with 3M tape on the back. Just gave the frame a touch up beforehand. Job done I hope.
Then gave the bike a good clean and applied ACF50.

You should have left it alone as everyone knows a Silver Frame is more desirable.

Fitted a pair of LED lights and upgraded headlight bulbs. I thought the bulbs were an improvement until I lit up the LED's  :)
Would have been a simple job with a bigpie fuse box, except for routing the two lamp wires on different sides of the front forks then having to pull them apart to correct it.  ###
