Croatia Trip in Sept ....
« on: June 22, 2015, 20:13:01 »
Hello .
First two weeks in Sept myself and Miss Kwackboy will be heading to Croatia on the Vee . We are heading to dusseldorf to catch a motorail train with overnight sleeper to Vienna , exploring that part of Austria then , head down through Slovenia into Croatia visiting split and pula .
Once we are done in Croatia we will head for Venice Italy , back over to Austria via the stelvio pass (weather permitting) , once we are back in Austria we will head west to leichtenstien then up into Germany via the black forest and eventually head back to calias through Germany (don't like northern France that much  :shy: ) .

Looking for suggestions on places / good roads to visit if anyone's been down that way .. all suggestions appreciated

Thanks in advance ..

Plitvice Lakes are very pretty

Lake Bled via the Vrisic Pass is good:

Zadar and it's Sea Organ is great, less touristy / busy than Split, but plenty to see and do:

Split, make sure you do a tour of the underground bit of Dioclecians Palace.

Spend an evening, or two listening to the music / entertainment outside of the Lxxor hotel.

The coast road through Croatia is beautiful but do try to take a detour inland over the mountains where there is still graphic evidence of the war,  if time allows try to get to Dubrovnik & take the road up to the fort remains high above. Bled is busy & touristy but pretty, Plitvice definitely worth a visit too.
I can't say for Lichtensein, I could spend a spare few days of any bike trip in the Dolomites - you won't go far wrong anywhere around Canzei/Campitello/Cortina :)

Here we are above Dubrovnik en route to Greece.

Many thanks for all the advice... :thumb:,  in order to keep the costs down we are camping most of the trip but may spend the odd night in a hotel/B&B (depends on how much we crave a real bed..!! :sleeping-yellow:  ). Anyone know what the camping is like in Croatia..?
