Anybody do link pipes for 08 DL650 with lambda sensor mount?
« on: February 21, 2015, 16:27:51 »
So picked up a S/S aftermarket exhaust off of Fleabay for a DL650, listed as fitting all the pre-2012 models.

Exhaust arrives with link pipe and realise that its for the earlier models, the link pipe is too short and no lambda socket. My 08 has the big flattened out exhaust shape behind the heat shields.  :bawl:

So asking more in hope than anything else, does anywhere do suitable link pipes with a connector for the lambda probe?  And going from the flattened shape of the OEM exhaust, will I need to cut right at the bottom?

Other option is to sell-on, as it will make a great looking system on an earlier V-Strom, instead of bodging on mine.

Any help or suggestions appreciated.

Cheers

What did you end up doing? I'm in the same situation now, bought a cheap WRP system, which doesn't fit and my Cat was knackered, well at least I thought it was. See my post on inside a K7 exhaust. I've opened it and removed the Cat, so have some options that I'll explore late this week. Not looking too spend too much.

Only just seen this Jay2, you can buy the lambda socket http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/UNIVERSAL-EXH ... -X1-5-18MM and have it welded to your new system.
http://www.custompipes.co.uk/ will be able to do it and probably have the boss as well.

Might help you as well I hope Phil.
To be happy, I don't need private helicopters,a Florida house or a yacht. I'm fine with my motorcycle,a trip to a forest in Bavaria and some lunch money.

I'm taking it down to a local custom pipe maker in Bangor N.I. after the NW200 this weekend. Hopefully he'll be able to make a link pipe for me to fit in the round section I have coming out of the collector, might even be able to use the WRP stainless link pipe or at least the section of it with the threaded boss. Think the WRP might have been for the earlier model 04-06. I'll post photos of the result.

Check out my post about the lambda sensor eliminator.  Just plug and play.

This may just be an answer to a good priced 3/4 exhaust for 07/11 wee's.
