FAIRING PANEL PINS 2005 DL1000
« on: January 17, 2020, 09:22:06 »
Carried out a major service to bike yesterday all well except three of the plastic panel pins were missing. Its the ones that hold the under light trim panel. Anyone know the size of the pins as when I looked for replacements they vary from 6-8-10 mm. Or anyone found a different way to fix panel on without using the Suzuki pins that appear to be made of cheese.

When I in 2013 purchased used '12 DL650, it was missing quit a few of those clips. I asked at the dealer and they were very expensive. Then I found on this forum the suggestion to get them from China by eBay. And I did. For the price of one OEM clip at Suzuki dealer, I've got bag of 20 of them from China. And they worked well and have never broke.

Thanks for the offer roganjoshing Ill try to get some off fleabay just need to get the size right.
You may need yours as they are a bugger to replace. The ones I reused mostly when back with ease except one on the top tank front piece one of which took about 20 mins to click back in. The problem was the center piece wouldn't click back out. Is there a knack to this as its beyond me and as I've said three were missing on initial inspection on the underside

I do have some slightly bigger ones too that fit but aren't OEM. Let me know if you change your mind. Happy to send three of each FOC.

Rick, are you sure you are using these plastic rivets correctly ? To remove you simply push the centre locking peg in, then pull out the whole thing. Before replacing, push the centre pin back the other way until it sticks out the other side, refit the whole thing back into its position and then push the inner in until it is flush to lock it.

Ha! Ha! this may well be the problem on taking out, the pins stayed with each part and I just assumed that refitting was the reverse of removal. Ill get replacements and try your suggestion Thanks  :thumb:
