As they are such an eyesore I can't believe I've only just noticed the welds, I've had quite a few Glee's apart but I guess being engrossed in my work I just hadn't noticed ....  :shrug: :crazy:

Many years ago I worked in a textile firm in Belfast as a fitter. We would sometimes have to weld the odd bracket on, they would never get us a mask or goggles, just said get on with it. So you got the rod heated up, held it 1/2 inch from the joint and closed your eyes! Looks like Suzuki are still doing this! Well they used to make looms just like we did.

I had a random idea this morning & looked at the AL2 service manual: guess what is just visible on one of the pictures...
Seems pearl asbo orange is faster after all....
