Cleaned it and gave it a coating of ACF50.
Changed the oil & filter.

Then went on line to search out some spark plugs. She's going in January to have the valve clearances checked so will have them fitted then.

The best I could find for CR8EIA-9's was Opie Oils at £6.76 each with forum discount but they couldn't supply them until March so went to Robinsons foundry where they are £7.45 on a promotion deal (unable to get a forum discount though  :smirk:

Steve, she's on 38,930. They were changed on one of the early services (before I realised they were good for high mileage) but have done 30K plus now so while it's in bits I thought it was worth having them fitted. Should see me or the 'bike out!!!  :thumb:

Weather looked better today so thought a bimble around the lanes on the Norfolk/Suffolk border would stretch my bike’s legs after a week in the garage.
Expected to get a bit mucky as roads damp but hit thick mist near Haverhill so got soaked and bike filthy.
Washing it in the rain tomorrow I think.  :groan:

Strommed to work and the long way home as it was dry suprisingly and I wanted to ride in the gusty winds and a balmy 8C.
If it has two wheels.. I'll ride it.

Installed Polisport Sharp Hand Gards. The model Juvecu reviewed here https://www.v-strom.co.uk/polisport.htm

Nice fit, looking good :-)

Have no photos (yet), but maybe I'll post some...

Finally heard that my bike is at Heathrow. I crashed in Kazakhstan on 4th July and it has taken this long to recover it. Had a hold up with unnecessary import documentation but just waiting to see when I can get it now

Cleaned the bugger as I used it on Wednesday to go to Leeds and the salt had crystallized all over making it sparkle, apart from the chain that was starting to go orange...

Also upgraded the headlight bulbs.

200 winter miles today form london round hampshire as day off and visiting folks. - great. No real rain but windy + damp - really challenging to ride at times esp. on some b-roads around cheriton. Missed a fox by inches @ 50 on a wet single laner which nearly let the brown stuff out.
If it has two wheels.. I'll ride it.

Got her home at last. It has taken since the crash on 4th July till now to find a company capable, go through the red tape of collecting from a police station in Kazakhstan. Not to mention our own bureaucracy in the UK which involved the foreign and commonwealth office and hmrc.

Once I got the Kazak mud of it, it was better than it. looked at first. A few bits to get but I will be selling the pannier frames, the engine bars and the sump guard to help with the funds.

Noticed on a pre-ride check that the rear brake was sticking on, a few mins poking around showed it was the brake pedal pivot, so stripped it and greased it. Now all tickety boo... :lala:

I think it was the only pivot that I did not check when I bought this bike. Looking forward to some longer rides when the weather will play ball.

Rode down to 'bandit country' (Leicestershire  :)) to meet Josh who was on his way to spend some money. After handing over his hard earned and receiving a motorcycle in return we, and a friend of Josh, headed a little further north (Staffordshire) for tea/coffee and some very nice cake. From there we headed back down south for further refreshment. We had to ford a couple of rivers on the way back but all was good.
I'm sure Josh will be on at a some point to give his view of the new 'bike.

Couple of photos..............

What an ungrateful twat, part chopping that recently fettled XT1200 by ME for a different bike.

Can't fault him though, he'd lost all faith in it...

Enjoy Young Josh :thumb:
To be happy, I don't need private helicopters,a Florida house or a yacht. I'm fine with my motorcycle,a trip to a forest in Bavaria and some lunch money.

I hope TLP's fettling didn't affect the trade in price too badly.

With battery charged and some fuel in the tank, she eventually started. Not bad for a first time since July 4th and what she’s been through.
