DL1000 K5 Screen Options
« on: February 20, 2023, 11:25:14 »
Morning Boys & Gals,

Appreciate there is a whole chapter on this subject, but as there are so many variants of the bike! Wanted some advice from who has experience of modding or screen replacement on a 2005 DL1000 K5.

I am 5.10 and suffering from the buffering at 70mph plus 10  :auto-dirtbike: I've already changed the mirrors to Aprilia plus added mirror extensions.

Thanks in advance  :ty:

Bought my K7 (same bike) with an MRA Vario screen on it, it was good with the spoiler up but not so much with it down (I'm 6'2"). It was already at the highest setting on the bike as well since my Sat Nav brackets demands that be the case. A slight tuck in and it was fine but I want to sit bolt upright when doing any distance.
I switched to the touring height version of the same screen and it's now fine with the spoiler down and I only flip the spoiler up for motorway cruising where I want total quiet. It's quite close to my eye line though with the spoiler up hence only using it when I'm cruising.
Not self serving at all but I still have the old standard height version going ;)

Everyone on a different forum recommended the Givi Airflow. I currently have a National Cycle Vstream sport. It looks good but it’s not the greatest protection.

Another shout for the MRA Vario touring screen. Came with my K6 when I bought it and does the job perfectly. I'm 6'-2" and get no buffeting. I also have the mirror extenders.
