It was bound to happen sooner or later...
« on: July 02, 2020, 19:10:47 »
So, the Aprilia Caponord 1200 Rally has been sold to make way for - another Guzzi. This time it's a V85TT in silver. I pick it up sometime next week (the dealer has to order some bits in) and will of course update accordingly. In the meantime here's a stock picture -

It's pronounced 'twenty-one-twelve'

Y'see, that is a proper high front mudguard. Not a beak.

I've had a look at one of those a couple of times when I've been passing the dealers in Falkirk & I'm just not quite sure what to make of it. The old V35 & 65TTs looked odd with the engine canted back to keep the driveshaft more in line: like the suspension had sagged at the back. The new one has that sorted at least, but there's a couple of 'replacement' oddities that I'm not taken with, like the twin shock setup that they forgot to add the second one to. I do like the red frame version, just a pity it comes with the yellow & white paint. The high mudguard is a good thing, and no bogging beak to be seen. And the twin round headlights remind me of old endurance racers. On balance, I think I'm more for it than against so I congratulate you on your purchase & return to the fold.

Who knows, I might pick one up in 30 years and fix it up...

MCN review shows 229 kg (wet?)
Never had a Guzzi but always liked the looks.
This doesn't last forever, so do it while you can.

Congratulations. :thumb:
To be happy, I don't need private helicopters,a Florida house or a yacht. I'm fine with my motorcycle,a trip to a forest in Bavaria and some lunch money.

Nice. They do get under your skin. Guzzi’s have a charm all their own. I am loving my current old’one. Amazing that they have managed to make the same basic engine design last so long. Youwill have to ride it to the Factory Centenary celebrations next year.....if it doesn’t get cancelled.

Thank's folks, looking forward to Guzzi number 4 (Monza 500, Le Mans 3 & Stelvio). I'm hoping to return to Mandello del Lario next year - fingers crossed it will happen  :thumb:
