Tail bags.
« on: February 03, 2024, 20:31:27 »
Evening all,
I'm toying with the idea of fitting a tail bag to my 2022, 650  vstrom.
Anybody have suggestions for a reasonably priced bag, 30/40l capacity?
I quite like the look of the Oxford T30R/T40R bags as they can be removed, leaving the baseplate in situ.
Also is it secure enough to fit a tail bag 50/50 between pillion seat and standard vstrom rear rack?
Any opinions, recommendations welcomed.
Cheers.

As long as it's strapped down securely it should be secure on the pillion seat or 50/50 between rear rack and seat. I ran with my Oxford one there until I got a top box and mount for my bike.

Just be aware that the ones with the zippable bases need to be secured down square or the zip can get a bit difficult to do back up.

From a security point of view, I prefer a lockable hard luggage option.  The Givi E21 or E22 panniers are a good option.

Thanks for the replies Folks.
I think I might forget the soft luggage option and keep an eye out for a rigid top box.
Anyone know what size top box would be suitable for a Scorpion ADX2 flip front helmet with peak fitted?

I would probably go and find a shop with top boxes out so you can try them.

I have a 48L Kappa top box and my ADX-2 fits, but I don't have the peak fitted, and it needs to be precisely in the middle of the box... it's very very snug. I wear an XL.
