2007 DL1000 for sale
« on: April 19, 2024, 16:20:46 »
It is with great sadness that I have to put my V-Strom up for sale ☹️
Due to my knee/leg injury I can no longer get on my beloved v-Strom.
I have owned this bike from new (57 reg) DL1000 in black and Grey 26,000 miles.  I have added quite a few Extras over the years, which are all included in the sale. Heed engine bars, Lomo engine bar bags, Hagon rear shock, Hagon progressive front springs & heavier oil, Big pie Aux unit, Scorpion end cans with removable baffles, Oxford heated grips, Centre stand, Nice sports seat bought from a forum member, Front & Rear cameras ( little screen under the seat complete with Memory card ), TRE bought from a forum member,
Probably forgot some stuff 🤣.
Included in the sale are the Original pipes, the original rear shock ( only on the bike for a short while ), Original seat, oh and to fit the Heed bars on I had to remove the Crash bungs so they will be included with the sale.
I would like £2,600 for this bike I will post some pictures.
This bike is to be viewed in Chelmsford Essex.

Great looking bike and for the price a bargain! It will sell no problem, just hope it’s to someone who will love it as much as you clearly have.

graingerblaze thank you👍  I hope so to 🤞 it is a great bike, and it looks like I will be selling my other 2 as well as I cannot get on them either ☹️.
It does look like it’s a cruiser type life for me now 🤔 I do like my Harley though 🤣

Sorry to see you have to sell.

That's a fine bike.

Cheers Martin. Yes it really is. But it has been sitting there for 2 years like my other 2 bikes not being ridden.  In the vain hope I would be able to ride them again but sadly no ☹️  I have tried to get on them not only can I not get my leg over 🤣🤣.  and if I am honest with my self they are to heavy now as I haven’t the strength in the knee and leg I had.

That's an awful lot of bike for the money, I would guess that the only reason it hasn't sold yet is that almost everybody here already has a bike.

Maybe when it has sold you could try one of the many modern and able scooters that are on the market? Some of them have the performance of a motorbike but are easier to get on and off and push around the garage.  :thumb:

I have run bikes alongside  twist and go scooters for a few years now. For various reasons, mainly age related :old:, I have stopped riding motorcycles. I  "only" have a Honda 300 Forza now, and I am in my 3rd year with it. I can recommend one, and various other automatic scooters I have owned.

My Adventure rider mate was talking to a bloke at work about his up coming trip. The bloke said he would like to get a bike he could go touring on.

So today he came to have a look at my V-Strom. He was very impressed with the condition and the running of the bike. I said take it up the road for a ride. Which he did when he come back he said it is so different to what I am used to . (Bandit 1200 and current bike Honda CBF 1000 ) he said he is more than happy with the deal. BUT  he was not sure at the moment. He sent a couple of pictures to his wife and she replied that’s a lovely bike just buy it you will soon get used to it.
So his decision was to go and think about it and let me know later in the week.

Fingers crossed for your sale.
Not sure he knows what he wants though, as a CBF1000 would make a good  tourer too  lol:thumb:

The wife says, "buy it"!
And he thinks about it?
No, somethings wrong. Besides stupidity.
Good luck with the sad sale fella.

Let's face it the DL1000 has never been a "lusted after" bike. We who have owned one know it is a very capable, two up, fully loaded,  mile muncher. Prospective buyers who read reviews in the motorcycle press are left just a little, ill-informed. A road test can be quite confusing when they find the bike is a whole lot better than they ever thought.  However, crush me under the wheels of hell if    I ever once considered asking my wife's opinion of a motorcycle based on a picture.
It takes all sorts eh?

Just like the Varadero I have for sale..
Underrated bike really.  Very capable..  very sorted with rebuilt shock and little improvements here and there..
Of course.. it's not got loads of electronics on it to baffle people with.  But it ain't 10k either.
Your Strom looks to be a bargain really.

Upt North 🤣 I actually had met this bloke 5 years ago on a ride out he was on a bandit 12 then. And from memory he was indecisive then 🤣

Brockett  yes I can see what you mean about the reviews etc. but as you say we know they are a very capable bike indeed. This bike has been  and still is a bloody great bike.

AdvntureSi  I have never owned or in fact rode a Varadero, but I have heard good things about them, I know Mr Diver on here has one and really rates his.
Yes I think it is a bargain price. I am sure it will sell to the right person and I am in no hurry to sell it.

Having ridden all versions of the DL1000, I have to say the best one is the "classic", less refined but more characterful engine, the brakes did the job with plenty of feel, the suspension did a good job as an all-rounder, but the engine is a far closer relation to the fire breathing dragon that was the TL1000 engine.

All the later refinements, improve the appeal to the wider market that want blandness and stats, personally I want it angry and mean

The early DL1000 was aimed firmly at the Varadero/XRV/R1100GS market and it did a very good job with being a better balanced all-rounder than competition. The Varadero feels more top heavy at slow speed, but slightly more planted when cruising, but the early V-Strom 1000 has a sportier edge to it and about 10kg lighter and was still a very capable touring machine.

I've been sniffing around this and your Trophy, the problem is the Mrs tells me I don't have time to ride the one bike, let alone a second, (or third if you count her bike)  :bawl:

Anyone who buys one of your bikes is going to get a well sorted and cared for bike. - good luck with the sale.
