Nwe Bridgestone AdventureCross AX41 tyre
« on: October 25, 2018, 02:11:14 »
This new AX41 is a 40/60 on-/off-road tyre.  Looks great on your V-Strom. M&S (mud and snow) approved.  :lala:

I'll second that.
I've had many of these offroad styled 50/50 tyres.

All of them vibrate the bars and feel very very vauge in the corners. Not great for road riding and the mileage you get will be crap.

But needs must if you do ride the ruff stuff.

I use the K60 Scouts as they offer reasonable lifespan and aren't too bad on the road and I ride a lot if muddy leaf strewn single track roads in Wales. You know the type that have grass down the middle that soon turn into a mock up of the Somme when it rains.

If I was riding good roads these 50/50 tyres are for show and a waste of money.

Heidenau is coming out with the new K60 scout II. But we still going to test these AX41.   :)

I'm very pleased with the A40s on my Glee right now, 14,000 miles and are only a little twitchy over white lines and cattle grids!
I'm starting to think about what to replace them with, this thread is great for me as it's helped me to rule out 50/50 tyres for my riding - reckon I'll go with another set of A40s, or maybe A41s now....

Odd to see a company like Bridgestone still developing new tyres in 2.75x21 & 4.10x18 for my old TS. Handy if I need another set of tyres during the next 40 years...

The first 'steps' with the Bridgestone AX41. Went well. Little bit more noise, no vibration on the handlebar, at all! Corners, going easy because of the weather and new Tyres. Off-road great, a lot of grip.
And they look  :happydance: on a Strom.

Not much clearence under the front mudguard - will you/could you raise it?

I don't know if you can raise the mudguard. Looks like its possible to raise it. For now its enough. When the real mud is coming, we can see.

I'm sure I've seen a post somewhere (if not here, possibly Stromtrooper?) a mudguard relocation kit for riders who like going off-road.

If you have a beak, won't that catch the spray, so you can just remove the mudguard for off-roading?

It should, that's what beaks were originally. But form over function rules these days.

I read that twice, just seems double Dutch to me. :)
To be happy, I don't need private helicopters,a Florida house or a yacht. I'm fine with my motorcycle,a trip to a forest in Bavaria and some lunch money.

Any update on mud caking up the mudguard with the AX41? Bridgestone is running a $50 rebate through the end of August so I'm pulling the trigger on a set for my L4 Vee. I'll likely spending my rebate on mudguard risers
Adventuretech/ RichlandRick makes the risers in 2 flavors .65" and 1.6" https://www.adventuretech.biz/2014-DL1000-mudguard-raising-kit.html
