I am both humbled and astonished in equal measure. How on earth you managed not to utter not one single expletive is way beyond my comprehension.

You are perhaps the most polite and focused human bean that I know.

I am blessed.

(ps how the feck did that happen?)
To be happy, I don't need private helicopters,a Florida house or a yacht. I'm fine with my motorcycle,a trip to a forest in Bavaria and some lunch money.

The not swearing was a combination of being lost for words and the start of the focus part. The gloves came off for the first attempt, the helmet, glasses and earplugs were a combination of playing for time whilst gathering thoughts, and a realisation that it might take a while so I may as well get comfortable. When it happens again, I'll try to stick something into the ground by the tyres to stop the bike sliding away from me mid-grunt.

How did it happen?
Still not entirely sure. I was standing by the bike reversing it when it happened. Either one or both tyres may have slid out while the bike was leaned, or maybe my boots slid.
One left handguard cracked, and dented pride. Very impressed with the camera's 'horizon lock' feature working perfectly at 90 degrees to capture the man and the moment.

That looks simple.  A ratchet strap on a stick. Locking the front brake is a good move.

They should be the right orange (RAL 2009) to match your bike's orange bits.

Bloody silly place to be, even sillier place to stop. But it bugs me when I see people parked in the small infrequent passing places for a cuppa or a gawp at the hills.

Thank you for further demonstrating the horizon lock feature of your camera setup. It really is flawless. I would have turned the air blue with a litany of swearing had I dropped mine.  ###

Anything is possible TLP, but picking it up again? I don't even want to think about it.

Glad to hear no serious damage Rusty and you're OK too.
On both occasions I've let mine fall I've had a pillion to share the lifting with, wouldn't want to try it on my own!!

I was aided in my lifting by the terror of being stuck on top of a fell in the cold rain. Quite an incentive.

I dropped the 990 in a layby when the sidestand didn't go down far enough & pinged back up, and there was a chap stopped in a van to help before I'd even had time to consider what I was going to do. Even odder was that he had full bike gear on as well.
