Fitting Scottoiler
« on: July 28, 2008, 19:35:12 »
Here are some photos of me fitting a the Universal Scottoiler & Lube Tube to my V-Strom 650. I have not used any of the glue supplied or the other stuff. The only think that I have used to fit is is cable ties.

Here's a few pics of the Touring kit with twin nozzle fitted to my DL1000.

I have to say works well altho I still need to make a 'sandwich' packing bracket to bring out the rear numberplate light so it actually lights up the repositioned number plate. I also want to make a new more 'pleasing to the eye' twin nozzle mounting bracket,(to replace the temporary setup I have pictured) which I'll probably get powder coated black so as to keep with the frame.

So...
Following on from the initial installation above, I'm after a bit of advice as to the twin nozzle mount.

Option1..

Drill and tap into the rear of the swingarm 2 X 6mm holes so a new straight bracket can be fixed from there

Do you think it would be OK / safe / recommended ?

Option 2

C bracket made from same alloy as in pic with bolt hole top and bottom to secure/clamp round swingarm, then weld a short stub to fix nozzle to (like a sort of backwards F shape) ?

Option3

Just buy shitty plastic Scottoiler mount and take the easy / uninteresting route!!

Any opinions  / other ideas ?

 :)

I don't think the swing arm metal is thick enough to tap a thread successfully. I drilled two holes and used the 'shitty scottoiler mount' fitting it with self tapper/sheet metal screws.

Yes I know it could all do with a clean   , but it is my daily commuter, and I am doing a major service this month.

Edit: Andyberg, I think your nozzles could do with being lowered nearer to the chain.

Yup..I like that 'shitty mount' lol

Never actually seen one in the flesh, just seen them tiewrapped onto the arm in the scottoiler bumph, thought they looked pretty second rate but drilling and screwing like yours looks right...
Think I might go that route myself now!

Your probably right on lowering the nozzles, its just a temp fix to see everything works OK, now comes the actual fit!
