Tyres anyone??
« on: July 19, 2008, 09:58:09 »
OK, I just pulled 3 small screws out of my back tyre..... ###
Has anyone got any recommendations to make model etc ? I'm never really off road so a good road tyre is a must.
Can I mix it with the stock front tyre? Should I even?
Cheers

I have tried Bridgestone Trailwings, Battlewings and Metz Tourances.  I was happier on the Metzlers.  Also, I am OK with adventure type tyres, they have never let me down and you do have an added advantage that gravel etc poses no problems.  I ride alot on B roads and single track roads around Wiltshire, the south and the west country.

I know folks like to put road tyres on these bikes, but this does restrict you to road only.

If buying today, I would say Tourance - I had Tourance rear and TW front and all was OK.  I have to say that I thought the TW front tyre to be very good indeed.

Hope this helps................Steve

Can't really add any more than stonehenge said, apart from, tyre choice is a pretty personal thing, I'm an avid Battlewing fan but know a few who hate them, unfortunately only trying different tyres is the best way to find a set you like.

If you want pure street tyres try the Continental Road Attack's. Supposed to be super sticky.

Michelin Pilot Road for me, Metzelers on the bike when I bought it s/h, changed to Avon Distanzias as that was all the local dealer had and then went over to Pilot Road after recommendation from someone on that other forum.  I love them but then I never go off road.
