2019 v Strom 1000 service intervals
« on: November 28, 2020, 16:55:47 »
Only had my  v Strom 1000 2019 xt for a while & I was a bit surprised at the service intervals stated In the service book is 3,500 mile.
Is this correct as I've read the post about the 650 service intervals being extended & was thinking has the same been done for the 1000,

Thanks,
Ian.

Hi Ian

Not sure if this is applicable, I’ve just checked the intervals for the 2020 1050XT. The service schedule in the book indicates servicing at 600m, then every subsequent 12 months or 3750m. However, the following pages itemise servicing for European / Oceania countries at 600m, then subsequent 12 months or 7500m. Might be worth seeing if your manual mentions anything similar for your 1000. They are only 12 months apart and, ‘essentially’, both the 1037cc unit, granted with a few subtle differences. Wouldn’t expect they would be that far apart, surely?

To me, its far easier to service my vehicles at the 5,000 mark. Oil filter at 10,000 mark. Simple to remember at my age. I do realise that with synthetic oils of to-day, I could easy move that figure to the 6,000 mark, but remembering to change oil at 5,000 works so much better for me. Note, I didn't state whether in miles or kilometres. Mine is in kilometres.

IIRC Suzuki revised the service intervals for most of their range last year.

Certainly my 2019 thou is due at 7500 mile intervals.
