Panniers, has anyone fitted alu panniers?
« on: July 31, 2008, 01:33:05 »
Wanting to fit more stuff on the bike and quite fancy some like the Zega Touratech ones but am not paying 600 quid! Have found these http://www.bykebitz.co.uk/acatalog/Avai ... izes_.html and am deciding which rails to use.

Anyone else fitted panniers that could give me some advice?

Cheers

hi brewking and welcome to the site,
I have givi topbox and panniers which were fitted to my last bike(blackbird)I just had to buy a givi tubular rack for £99 and I was sorted.
I like the alluminium boxes but where do they get the prices from!!
It depends on how much you want to spend  on your panniers.
there's a pic of mine in the gallery if you want to take a look. cheers

I like the look of ally panniers, I very nearly bought a second hand set off ebay a month or so back for £120

The ones pictured...I would like to see them in the flesh I think before I bought, they look a bit thin guage but it may just be the pics, If you get a set I'd be interested in knowing what they are like.

An easy fit would to buy a std pannier rack/rails of Ebay (always on there) then dismantle the std fixing pegs etc and drill/bolt the ally ones on perminently, keeps them pretty secure from thieving scrotes fingers;)

Those touratech ally panniers are the dogs danglies IMO but Jeez..the price.....£600 plus racks :o  :o
