stock screen 650 strom adjustment that works
« on: October 22, 2021, 21:10:22 »
After fiddling about with the 3 mounting heights and trying a Givi Airflow which I did not like I have found a good solution for me (6foot 1 inch) . After much thought I removed the black plastic piece from the bottom of the screen as I figured it stopped most of the airflow from getting behind the screen which balances out and reduces turbulence coming off the top  I then added about a 1/4 inch spacer to the bottom 2 fixings allowing the screen to tilt back a bit and allow more air behind the screen. I have no buffeting at all and usually don't need earplugs at town or country road speeds.  I do not go fast any longer and generally keep to the speed limit but find the above to be perfectly satisfactory  Best of all it won't cost a penny.

Interesting  :thumb: was it an easy reversible job to remove the black bit?

I inserted hex nuts about 1/4 " high to push the screen angle back. No buffeting. The more upright the screen, the more turbulence is a general rule although venting, flip ups, helmet shape, rider height etc all play a part. Sports bikes have low raked back screens and generally are the best for smooth air flow. I would recommend the 2 nut mod to anyone on a DL as first the port of call. I did this on my 650's (2011, 2016 and 2020) and they were all instantly better for me. I also find the lowest setting best, despite being over 6' myself.

Yes very easy job for us southerners. The black plastic bit clips off so easy to refit
