furry fasteners already
« on: September 19, 2018, 19:22:52 »
The SV at 1500 miles is only a few months old but already some fasteners are looking a bit grotty. Whatever the finish on the black bolts is , it is far too thin. What do others do by way of coating / treatment ? I was going to try lacquer on the nuts and bolts that are out of sight!

Polishing my red wheels results in a red rag so I may only wash them in future, and some of the frame joints look like the paint has not reached the corners .... so well up the Suzuki standards. ###
This doesn't last forever, so do it while you can.

They all do that sir.

By the way go easy on the wheels. ###

Take it back and ask for a new one Brockett!

1500 miles, must be under guarantee and maybe you should ask what products Suzuki recommend to keep everything in top condition..........
So how's it going so far then?

Sorry to say it but that's Suzuki for you . .
I doubt they would offer any warranty cover, my best advice would be to replace them with better fasteners/bolts.

It's a shame as most manufacturers scrimp on parts like this, especially triumph who charge a fortune for their shabby parts.

I would tend to agree with this suggestion. I use an old toothbrush and either AFC 50 or Napier VP90 Supershield. The Supershield is a more robust product and outlasts the AFC 50 by a big margin but is also a little messier in appearance.

I agree, Griff2, they are all fairly shite, Suzuki seem no worse to me than Honda, for example. there's a bit of mythology going on? But having said that, I can't be 100% sure, because I change bikes so infrequently, and I'm an inveterate washer of bikes lol

I found my Suzuki worse than any other make I've had and that's nearly them all.

My V-Strom is close to 15K miles and apart from some slight chips on the swing arm where the crud hits, the general finish is still excellent with no corrosion. The T120 Triumph that the V-Strom replaced was a pile of rubbish with wheels badly corroding, dials steaming up, seat that didn't fit. The list was getting longer so I cut my losses and bought what I consider to be a well put together Suzuki.
