Went to the Bristol Classic Bike show at Shepton Mallet yesterday......lots to see - and lots of people.
A good trip, but the wind was a bit hairy at times, particularly coming back home over the Second Severn Crossing.

Started it while standing on the left side to check the engine light gremlin had not returned. All was good so I lowered it onto the side stand. Which I had lifted!!!!!!!!!
Veeks are not that heavy after all!

Stripped, cleaned and re-lubed the pins and bearings on the rear suspension linkage and re-assembled.It was all spot on with no discernible wear.Ready for some decent weather now.

Took the whole gear linkage assembly to bits, cleaned it, re greased it and then adjusted the lever height.

I only wanted to adjust the gear level up a bit, but the threads were all pretty grubby and one thing led to another.

Fitted a set of Givi E21 panniers I got for a bargain price. I then adjusted the rear suspension, took the adjuster knob off and cleaned the boss it sits on which, (like all the other bits of the bike the dealer did not reach with his jet wash) was absolutely black with road grime, as was the inside of the adjuster knob, road grime and sand... nasty. After that I got to grips with changing things on the display and then..... I took it to the garage, filled it with petrol and went out for an hours ride.

While doing our 'big shop' this morning I was wondering how I was going to manage all the work that was lined up for me this afternoon,  when a text came through on the phone.......it was the answer to my concern........ Josh!!
He had got the afternoon off & was off out for a ride.
A nice run around north west Leicestershire calling in at a workshop he knows where I think I may have got an answer to my suspension queries, then on to the Triumph factory at Hinckley for a look around and of course, a piece of cake.  :)
100 miles and the new tyres scrubbed in.  :thumb:

Anyone got any tips for freeing up a very stubborn centre stand? I suspect the road crap has got it all seized up, not easy cleaning underneath without a bike lift.

I took mine off last year to clean, repaint and grease. Did it on the side stand without a lift, not too difficult until you try to put the springs back on.  :thumb:
If you just need a quick fix for now, spray liberally with WD40.

+1 on the WD40. After which use a load of lithium grease in the joints and work it in by moving the stand up and down. I'll be taking mine off in the Spring to clean it up and repaint so if I get around to doing it first I'll post any handy hints  :thumb:

Put some strong string around the end of the spring (one at a time, inner first) put the string around one of the spokes (alu wheels only) of the rear wheel. And pull the string towards the front of the bike with one hand and guide the spring with the other hand.

You must lock the front brakes (I use tape around the front brake lever and bricks front and back)
Do it on the side stand with the centre stand held in the up position with a bungee so you can manoeuvre it if needed.

Either that or have a look on ebay for a spring puller.

I tried the string method but couldn't manage it that way.
I used a big screwdriver and did it a similar way to this video. Took a few attempts but it did go eventually. As mr_diver says you do need to put the inner spring on first.

Is it worth a visit then? Thinking about taking a day off during the next couple of months before the new baby and wondering where to go.
