Title: Getting wet
Post by: nigel s on April 12, 2023, 06:25:25
Morning all, a while ago, starting a ride home the sky looked black so I put my over jacket on but not the leggings, too much bother as it wasn't actually raining. Anyway it pissed down the 75 miles home.Got home and my legs were dry,WTF. Had this a few times now, water comes half way up my boots but the rest of leg  is completely dry???
Has anyone else had this ? or do vstroms just do this?

It's amazing how much rain the screen keeps off my upper half but I can't say I've noticed what you describe. I know you will always get wet when moving slowly in heavy traffic.

No leggings  I didn't  put them on ,that's what's  amazed me best bike I've  ridden for keeping  legs dry. I'm  wondering  if the givi Crash  bars have  something  to do with it  ,that and the 36 inch inside  leg may mean my thighs are lower than my  knees.
don't know

Oh .. sorry , I misread your post ..

I wanted to know because any leggings keeping you dry after 75miles are worth making a note about ...  lol

nigel - you must be saintly because, if I ride for few miles in the rain with no waterproof trousers, rain will run off my jacket onto the seat and give my rear end a good soaking.

Not tried it with my Vstrom yet but my FJR keeps my legs and feet dry for quite a while but sane as Brocket, eventually water collects on my shoulders then runs down to my goolies.

Full disclosure  I was wearing Oxford  windproof  base layer under leather trousers  but trousers  have those  stretch panels at crotch so no waterproofing there. It's  odd there was a line  on my boots below  wet above  dry???

got to admit it's 10 years or more since I've'e got REALLY cold/wet ,good kit these days is so good. Not like when I took my part 1 training '85.Denim jeans combat jacket and cheapo waterproofs.Out all day in sleet in january, riding home the snow started.45 miles is a bloody long way on a suzi TSX125.My step father was waiting for me to get back, he had to help me off the bike, after getting rid of the pile of semi frozen snow from the top of the tank to my chest.ow ow ow
ho hum

Saw similar last weekend, forecast rain (and a bit nippy), so wore the full laminated jacket and trousers. Got home, jacket soaked, trousers relatively alright (except for the bit covering my boots).

Which makes me think my hi-vis waterproof trousers, which unfortunately came with pocket holes, might actually work fine (without the need for me to seal up said pocket holes).

Glad it's  not just me.just bought a new richa gortex jacket.briefly tried in wet but not full monsoon  yet
Didn't  get the trousers  for above reasons and I'm tight.wanted the Oxford laminate  jacket  but the zip wouldn't  mate with  my  other  trousers
