I will definitely take a look when they arrive in dealers.

Hopefully it won't be the disappointment the Triumph Tiny Tiger Sport 660 was....... bike of the year... for anyone under 6' tall!
The older I get, the better I was.

They ditched the v engine, and kept the Vstrom name. Reasons included the cost of the v against the common rail 800 parallel. Then put a v twin in a new bike.

@Crump, it is ride by wire not cable. It's one of the methods to achieve Euro 5+, so cruise will work.
To be happy, I don't need private helicopters,a Florida house or a yacht. I'm fine with my motorcycle,a trip to a forest in Bavaria and some lunch money.

I’ve got my Bike Show ticket.

Unless someone visits before I do and updates this thread, I’ll put something on here….. but it won’t be too technical.🤣

So Suzuki is not phasing out the V-Twin? I read all kinds of rumours that it is not worth upgrading it to Euro 5+ and won't sell it anymore in Europe. Turns out, it is announced in France as well. Plus the SV and V-Strom 650s are also for sale in 2026 as far as I know.

The 650 V-Strom’s in 2026 will be the unsold 650’s form 24 / 25 or earlier. The 650 V-Strom is no more…… for now anyway.

The MK2 Honda CBF1000F was only built between 2010 and 2012, but you can find them on 2016 plates. I’m sure there are more examples that can be quoted.🤷‍♂️👍

I'll be heading to the NEC next week, partly to get a sneak peak at this bike - not sure which day though...

Hopefully they'll have one with higher option seat, as I found the outgoing SV a bit cramped when I test rode one last year. I'm not tall but my knees were a bit too squished. I ended up buying the more roomy 800RE but something lower and more compact withe same ergonomics would be even better. Do hope the accessory list grows a bit more though as I'd prefer a centre stand to dusting off the paddock stand I last used on my mk1 SV650.

I wonder how many sales the new GX will take from the 800 V-Strom?

I loved my DL650, that engine is brilliant in the real world! I do now love my DL1050, but the 650 was a great engine and lighter. I personally don't like the latest gen DL650 looks, or the 800 with its weird beak, hence I went the DL1050 route. I would happily loose a few BHP's if the bike is much lighter overall, will be interesting to see when it comes out. I would love to know the sales strategy of Suzuki on this one, as it will need to be much cheaper than the 800 or what's the point... but then why would you spend thousands more for a parallel twin when you can have a V-Twin? It'll take a few sales from the 800RE I suppose. I'll be interested to see the new bike in the flesh. I love the V twin engine but the extra couple of ponies of the 800 is attractive to me. The 800 DE will keep the sales of those that off road potential. I think it's a good addition to the range.

I wonder if the new 800 in both Strom and GSX guise is proving a touch too much for the bike schools and first big bike riders.
The SV and Gladys ruled the bike school/learner roost for a while after Honda 'ruined' the CB500 when it went injection but it's all MT-07s etc now.
Perhaps the SV naked which will surely follow is trying to get the gateway drug market that the SV had for so long and this tourer version will make a great all round bike for smaller or less experienced riders who don't want to live with the impracticality of the endless hypernaked options.

The seat profile looks like the SV I had. An uncomfortable slope so that as I bounced on the poor suspension,  I slid into the tank nuts first. After an hour of continually sliding down and then pushing myself back up the saddle my thigh muscles were begining to burn.  If the seat pan was flat with a step up to the pillion then it would have been a very good lightweight bike. A fancy dash and a bit more tech will not make it any more rideable.   Look at the early models around 2003
This doesn't last forever, so do it while you can. Nothing travels faster than the speed of time.

If they done a similar styling upgrade with the vstrom 650 and fitted a 19" front wheel on it would be a very attractive bike, also put the 4 pot brakes from the 800re on it.
the seat height is very low on this Sv, will suit shorter riders though,  and the seat sloping forwards does look a bit much, time will tell.

I quite like it, if they do kill off the 650cc strom, this would be a good road oriented bike, with the more offroad focussed 800cc and the 2up tourer 1050cc.

I do miss the lightweight of the Wee, I may be looking to test ride this new incarnation of the old SV650

Just got back from the Bike Show.

Plenty of bikes on display. Now, this is only my own view, and of course I haven’t had a test ride so no idea how it will perform and I couldn’t get any indication of how much it will cost.

I was totally underwhelmed. You tall blokes who love their 650’s will probably be very cramped on the SV7GX. Although the dash wasn’t lit up, it looked tiny compared to a lot of bikes on display. No centre stand (and I can’t see how they’d fit one) or cruise. I know people tour on all sorts of bikes, but I wouldn’t put it in the tourer category. It needs to come in a lot less than £6k to be competitive with a lot of similar bikes.

There were a lot of Chinese bikes that are definitely worth looking at, and I thought they looked good value. My only concern is dealer / parts / service back up.

I paid £9400 for my pre reg 23 plate 1050XT about 18 months ago. There’s no way I’d pay the price in the attached photograph……

Footnote…. Suzuki had no merchandise for sale! They just wanted my details…I declined.

Spoke to a bloke who’d gone to the show to get BMW merchandise and bits for his bike…. Nothing again! They just wanted details for marketing.🤷‍♂️

Oh dear, I rather feared that the low seat height might be a thing... especially after riding the Tiny Tiger a few years ago.

I tried the S1000GX for size when it was released and found it was no good for my dodgy left knee (an ancient break) as the knee, hips triangle thing was all a bit too tight. Ah well, I'll go take a look when AT get one in, just out of interest.

As for 'taking your details'. I had that on the Norton stand a few years ago. I filled out a form to arrange a factory test ride of the 961, I didn't give my mobile phone number. Some weeks later I got a slightly snotty email asking why I had filled out the form and neglected to give my mobile number. I replied that I was hoping to get a date for a factory test ride of the 961 and only wanted to be contacted via email. The reply told me to visit my 'local' dealer.
The older I get, the better I was.

I was a bit baffled yesterday at the show and after declining to give my details to the Suzuki uniformed twelve year old with an iPad I asked why they only had the Pearl Matt Greige SV7 out instead of the (surely) more popular blue and white one. She said it was easier to keep clean... The gloss blue paint shows up greasy fingerprints and has to be wiped down frequently.  Even though a blue and white 1000GX was right next to it.

The seat is definitely too close to the pegs so I'd go for the 25mm higher comfort seat option if I was to buy one. Oddly the pegs are also metal offroad style ones instead of rubber covered - this may be called a "crossover" but who's kidding who? And Powerbronze will hopefully come up with a good sized mudguard extender as there is only half a front mudguard fitted, almost as if the designer didn't think anyone rides in the rain...

I liked it a lot overall. Don't really care that the brakes and suspension are old tech so if the ergonomics can be made to work I might be tempted in a couple of years.

I confess, I was attracted far more to some Honda’s and Yamaha’s than I was to many of the Suzuki offerings.🫣

The price of the new Honda CB1000GT looked to be very competitive and I would have it over the Suzuki GSX offerings.🤷‍♂️

And who is responsible for preparing a bike like this to be on the Suzuki stand at a big bike show?

A little detail, but this would drive me around the bend…🤪
