spark plugs

How often do you change spark plugs on a 650? The manual says every 12,000 km. How much can you stretch them?
Ride safe .

I think that it would depend on year DL650 model and whether your ride has Iridium plugs fitted or not.
If I recall the 2nd generation DL650 where factory fitted with Iridium spark plugs in the EU and India.  It is my understanding that the US models 3rd gen DL650 where delivered with non-iridium spark plugs from the factory, unlike the 2nd gen DL650.

If you have Iridium spark plugs on your ride, you could possibly only have to change these plugs around the 80,000 km mark. You still need to do regular spark plug inspection though.

FWIW, there are fake Iridium spark plugs, so be aware of this.

I agree with Nigel. My Gen 2 had iridium plugs fitted but I still changed them at 15, 30 & 45k miles while the valve checks were being done.
It didn't add that much to the cost really.

I think I am a fake. I thought I was young, agile and presentable. Now, 77 years later, as a bit of corrosion sets in I find I am none of those things. :old: If I was a motorcycle it'd just be the sort of patena that would make me more valuable. But I'm not. So it doesn't.  :bawl:
This doesn't last forever, so do it while you can. Nothing travels faster than the speed of time.
