New to V-Strom.co.uk
« on: March 10, 2020, 19:21:23 »
Hi all, just joined the site today and wanted to say hi and introduce myself;
I'm Ade, now full time based in Cornwall, I've been riding on and off since the age of six, so roughly 40 years but two long gaps away from bikes in that time as I couldn't get a surf board and a dog on one to travel . Now back into powered two wheeled transportation of any and all varieties in quite a big way though.
My main bike and my first V-Strom is a '19 DL650 which I am loving and am in the process of modifying to my required spec for some distance touring, and a little gentle off roading and filming.
I also have a restored TS125 which I'm hoping to get out on some gentle lanes and trails with soonish, and a custom Yam XV535 which is in the process of receiving a full strip down and rebuild for local summer runs when the tourist season turns the roads down here into some semblance of a slow moving car park.
I'm hoping to do a bit of filming and post some you tube vids on my channel of some of my rides, set to music (no commentaries here, just scenery and exhaust notes backed up by some decent rights free toons)
To that end before completing a 2500 mile bike camping trip last summer I added a couple of extra aux power sockets to the DL for cameras and charging kit etc. I also hard wired Innov k2 cams front and rear and I run GP hero 7 as my main cam currently. Hoping to upgrade filming and sound kit as time passes to increase vid quality etc, as long as I still enjoy the filming and editing process by then, as it does take a good bit of effort compared to just jumping on the bike and heading off.
I'll be posting vids of that trip sometime when I get the footage organised and if OK with admins (?)
I'll pop a link on here when they're up.

As far as the strom goes its definitely a long termer for me, I pretty much love it but I am looking at improving a few things a bit to get to a few more out of the way places. I find it quite comfy on road but both on and off road it does need a couple of tweaks and add-ons here and there which I was expecting from my research before buying it.
To that end I've so far added crash bars as it's more top heavy than I'm used to, (yes they've already saved my wallet a couple of times  :shy:) and I am currently searching for some good value adjustable off road pegs, (the Suzuki ones do look great but at over 200 quid they're more than I'd ideally like to spend).
Bash plate, rad guard, fork brace etc will almost certainly be coming from Cosmo which I've just found a link to on here, thanks for sharing that!
I will also be getting the suspension properly set up for me sometime too, when I find someone local with the required number of springy, oil filled brain cartridges in their head to do the job proper.
I'll post some pics of the bike on here at some point too  :obscene-drinkingchug:

Anyway that's enough from me for now, one essay per month is about my limit.
I look forward to scouring the forum for info and interesting discussions.
Ride on all have fun x

Hi and welcome from a fellow SW Vstrom rider. Great introduction. I'm looking forward to seeing your videos. There is a great section here for them. Maybe join the SW Run next month and video it for us?

Wait a minute, I do know Jack Schi..... hmmm...
....ahhh no that's Frank N Onnest, he was a Schitt until he sold his bull to pay the deed poll fees. People kept mistaking him for a Stein, it didn't half make him whine and nobody likes a Whinestein!
