Mr Nick, a few years later we hired a large Motor Home in Galgary and drove to Banff , then up to the north of Jasper for three days, then back again. All the campsites on that trip were fenced off with gates you could get through into the 'wilderness' .... and the Bears!!
The best experience I had in Canada was a Dogsled trip in Algonquin Park, four days/nights out in the snow down to -20* at night, slept in large pre- erected 'tents'. Never felt cold. Driving the sled was bloody hard work and kept you warm during the day, then the proper gear at night did the same.
Heard Wolves howling on that trip!
