Is the whole Gospel Pass back open now then?
I know a section was closed for ages due to a landslip and we delayed a go at the ABR Welsh 10s route last year. Maybe this summer....

Had a lovely blast around the lakes this evening, wish we had this weather more often. Added bonus, the roads were empty, not a slow wandering tourist to be found!  :lala:

Rixington: Yes the pass is open end to end.

I saw where the road repairs have taken place. There are lots of new barriers on the river side and the road has been cut back into the bank opposite with a new retaining wall installed. That section is still very gravelly in the middle of the road, but all nice and dry.

Funnily enough a rider slowed and asked me if the road was open all the way through when I was about to take the pony pix, the penny didn't drop as I have not ridden the pass in a couple of years.

Ever since I have had my 650 it has had a rattle / buzz at about 70 mph ish. I have always thought it was coming from the plastic cheek pieces around the radiator, as when I first had the bike I removed the radiator to do a valve check and found that the rubber pieces on the four tabs that locate the inner cheek pieces to the radiator were all missing. I replaced them with some appropriate heat shrink, but it's always been a bit of a loose fit.

Today while checking out the gear linkage and topping up the oil, I thought I'd have a proper look.

Long story short, the inner cheeks are held in place with three screws. I removed the screws, wire brushed and re-blacked them. On one side I found one of the correct rubber pieces laying inside the cheek piece, so that was installed on the lower tab and the inner cheek reinstalled. Bingo! No movement at all. On the other side, no such luck with the correct rubber, but a bit of bicycle inner tube did an OK job of mostly filling the opening, so just a little bit of movement.

Next time out I will head for a (dreaded) motorway and see if the rattle had gone,  I suspect it will have.

Rode to a friends near Tenterden , Kent avoiding all motorways from Basingstoke.
Took three hours each way but saw some lovely views over the south downs.

Morning ride to scrub in the new tyre,
No pics of churches or bridges today, it was all about swinging a few bends and being naughty

Now , ...... I  must do a proper repair on that hugger, the first thing to go wrong in 26,000 miles..........and it was not made by Suzuki so I can forgive it.

Be nice to get some garage time, been no need for the past 18 months  or so :thumb:
Just have to tidy up first. (see above, been no need before)

Ho Hum

Not many miles at all. 28 degrees showing on the dash. Too hot.
A short but fun ride, that'll do me  :)
