ooooohh gate is 33 ( and maybe a half ) inches this is going to be tight, I'm wondering if I can widen it a bit, ill probably bring the whole fence down with it if I try!

This is where the extra power of the Vee will help - just take a run at it   :auto-dirtbike:

Just measured my 2002 Vee:

35" across handlebars (widest point is across the handguards)
38" across panniers - this is with Givi E21s fitted, which are probably the narrowest hard luggage you'll find.

Hope this helps

yeah that's great, presume if handle bars widest then the wee will be the same, I think I may have to employ ( buy a mate a couple of beers ) a joiner to sort it out, just to give me the extra width

its not going to be a deal breaker , just want my new bike to feel welcome in its new home

got my strom, 650 in red 05 plate, loved the 90 mile ride back from whitby, didn't even seem to get wet when it rained ? visor and screen were covered in rain but my legs seemed dry apart from one big drop somewhere very uncomfortable and it felt very cold!!
