Title: Action cameras
Post by: colnz on January 03, 2020, 00:02:47
I've been using GoPro for a couple of years but I'm not really happy with it and I don't like the editing software. What alternatives are people using??
The videos are personal use not professional, so I don't need to be spending stupid money

Same here. Quik and I have never got on, videos never have the same quality post-edit as out of the camera. Yesterday I downloaded a month's subscription to Power Director by CyberLink, after a bit of research. I am also doing a most unmanlike thing... reading and watching the tutorials. Will see how it goes.

I have used the Windows software but found it a bit clunky and hard work. So much so that I now use the camera to take time lapse shots every 10 seconds and save the best ones. I'll be interested to see what others recommend as it might make me video again.

I used a a Garmin Virb camera for a few years, first using Windows moviemaker, then when it was discontinued I started using the Garmin software, Virb Edit.
When I upgraded to a GoPro 7 I could not get on with the GoPro software, so I continue with Virb Edit, it is free and simple to use.

I personally swear by GoPro cameras, but agree the software isn't the best.
