« on: March 28, 2015, 15:50:19 »
Hello! I joined the forum today and am getting an 06 DL1000 dropped off next week.
I haven't ridden a V-strom yet but looking forward to kicking it's ribs in.

No doubt I'll have a shed load of questions for you guru's so I hope you take it easy on me. :text-imnewhere:

Thanks for the warm welcome chaps. I've been mooching through some very interesting old posts for tips and pointers.

I've had a various big V's over the years, 3 Tuonos, a 1700 Warrior and I still have a Firestorm, so I know what to expect from the V Strom but looking forward to a bit of comfort and less grief of the GF.

I'm planning a jaunt over the Stang Forest, Tan Hill, Buttertubs and Devils Bridge to get to grips with it over Easter. It'll be good to be able to still walk when I get off after 100 miles.

Gatesheed! A mere clemmy throw :ty:

The Scotland trip sounds good but I was there yesterday, it was so cold I had to snap my p1ss off, may be in June when the big thaw begins.

The bike arrived today from a Honda dealer in Manchester,  :text-datsphatyo:   :text-datsphatyo:

FILTHY, I wish my GF was as mucky. If I knew it was going to be delivered in this state I would have rode my part ex bike over a ploughed field before they picked it up.

Also panniers gouged to F*+K.

Very poor show! Anyhow,

First ride and impressions are good, but I'm a bit concerned about the silicon tits brakes, the initial squeeze everything feels OK but the more pressure applied I soon realised it was going out of shape sharpish and it dives more than Tom Daily.

Shopping list:

Underpants,
Fork brace,
Good pads,
Brake hose kit,
Fork springs.
