Shark Speed R Carbon
« on: October 25, 2016, 11:40:46 »
My Arai Chaser had started to fall apart inside so I decided it was time for a new lid. After reading numerous reviews and trying as many, I went for this bad boy in Fluro.http://www.shark-helmets.com/product.php?code_sous_gamme=SPK

The materials, fixtures and weight far surpass the Arai. I'm hopefully testing tomorrow (Sheriff's badge fiddling permissing) but certainly on Saturday.

To be happy, I don't need private helicopters,a Florida house or a yacht. I'm fine with my motorcycle,a trip to a forest in Bavaria and some lunch money.

I'd be interested as well. I have a Chaser (the original not the Chaser V) which fits my 'long oval' head. The newer Chaser V doesn't fit as they've changed the shape.

Having tried on a few others, the Arai Quantum ST is the best fit as that is also the long oval shape. Haven't tried a Shark so no idea of the shape.

Very nice lid, I hope the ride goes well.  Not sure if you have read it but there is a review of your trusty stead on mcn.

Thank you so much for that link young Ali. I hadn't seen it not being an MCN ist. Two of my other faves are on the same list, the Morini and the Benelli, the Morini especially. There was one for sale a couple of years ago  for less than 5k.

I went for a Lincsblast with user650 today, the lid is ace. I initially thought I'd dropped a huge clanger, my specs and visors misted as soon as I stopped, luckily Paul pointed out the removable chin curtain restricts the fresh air coming in. I removed it and bingo, no more misting. The aperture isn't quite as deep as the Arai at the bottom this just requires me to lower my head at tad to check the Sat Nav, no biggy. It's significantly quieter regarding wind noise, it also seems more stable as well. The head vent gives cold air over a larger area and again is quieter. The drop down sun shield was a boon today with the low sun then sudden shadow when going under trees.

I had a brief detour on the M180 to check it out at motorway speeds, I'm pleased to report no buffeting, acceptable wind noise and  excellent vision.

Winner, winner, chicken dinner. :thumb:

You don't normally bother with going on the motorway to test things at motorway speeds.

Harsh Rusty, very harsh.

Perhaps I should have said motorway conditions.

But I didn't. :)

Not harsh, I remember attempting to follow you as you "made progress" up Howden way. Glee vs. Nail, not a photo finish.

Are the Shark liners removable for washing? One of the civilised features of the Neotec.
