Me? Envious?  Maybe just a little bit...

Enjoy the new bike, Dave. It looks fantastic!
Old enough to know better, but still too young to care...

It was either a new bike or get my teeth fixed. No contest was it.

At the August meet this year, the little Quad we use for 'racing' died at the end of the event and then so did its big brother :angry-banghead:

I eventually got around to stripping the Carb today and removed the assortment of shite that was in there. She runs like a dream now. I even treated her to a bath. Oh, then decided to sell her so we can buy a new one  :smirk:

Sunday, Cleaned the calipers on the floatabike (XJ600), changed pads on rear. Kicked tyres ready for MOT when I can be arsed to take it as it ran out when I was away in italy.

Due to no MOT on hack bike the Varadero has been pressed into commuter duty. How I've missed this bike daily. :auto-dirtbike:

Since spending some time riding a 300 Piagio Beverly around the congested roads of the Sorrento peninsula and the Amalfi coast I've lost all ability to deal with traffic and congestion in a 'British' manner.

The last couple of days I've wiggled my may to the front of every line of traffic, and on the green light have twisted the throttle like it's a crap twist'n'go and zoomed off.
Completely continental of me and for that I profoundly apologise.  :shy:

I've been back from Italy for a few days, all the chores (grundys washed)  have been done and normal service has resumed.  :dl_soapbox:

Dave had a wonderful time. Pics to follow.  :sunny:
He's spending alot of time on the treadmill atm to work of the pasta and ice cream weight.  :obscene-drinkingchug:

Got rid.
The cruiser just wasn't working for me. It wasn't exactly confidence inspiring in the wet. The back end kept stepping out on me for no reason. Couldn't get decent luggage for it. Was getting beaten to death on the motorway, even after putting a big daft screen on it. Certainly not the right bike for me commuting to work and back everyday and long miles at the weekends.
Unfortunately a rushed purchase after the theft of my Strom.

Pick up a Honda deauville (hopefully on Tuesday next week). Should have bought one of these after selling my very first Strom a few years back but went for a flashy BMW instead and regretted it ever since.

The deauville seems to be perfect for me, dependable, good luggage, comfy. And I have to say I find it rather a good looking specimin too!
Boring is just fine for me.

650 or 700?
The 650cc had iffy fuel pumps (easily sorted for £50) and 4 plug heads
The 700 had single plug heads, better weather protection, better fuel economy and better panniers with a 'baguette tube'.
Comfy and relaxed I think is the way to describe them.
I liked it alot and was perfect for touring or commuting.
But I already had a Wee and one had to go.

700 Mr Diver. Very nice condition FSH. 31k, but I think for those engines that's barely ran in  :smirk:

Comfy and relaxed is exactly what I want. I've got a bad back  :old:
The mad torque on the shadow is fun....but it has old fashioned drum brakes and a single front caliper  that lead to some twitchy bum moments.

Fitted a brand new KTM radiator guard. £10.35 including VAT.
To be happy, I don't need private helicopters,a Florida house or a yacht. I'm fine with my motorcycle,a trip to a forest in Bavaria and some lunch money.

Cleaned it. Went out for an hours ride and then spent two hours cleaning it...

Yesterday's run up to Cupar to MOT the KTM was dampened by the niggling hesitation I've found on her getting a bit worse. It manifests when cracking open the throttle as a pause for a second, then barks back into normal nutty mode. The wisdom of the internet suggests the fuel filter is needing changed. I've ordered the rebuild kit of the 2 filters and the o-rings - 'only' £50....

Left side tank came off today to get access:

I'm always impressed when I see the packaging efficiency, even if it makes getting at anything a nightmare...

Fuel pump came out without issues and stripping it down is pretty straightforward:

I think the filters do look pretty much done for and there was what looks like some plastic swarf there from day one:

The teabag filter attaches to the bottom of the pump as the pre-filter and then the round one collects anything smaller before it heads to the injectors.
The mounting bolts need a clean up & grease, but everything else looks OK to go back once the new bits arrive.

1190 radiator guards are excellent value.

Thank you for my subsidy. :)

Why is it that some of the  bikes I buy have their handlebars cocked over to one side by a few degrees?
My SV was OK and the old Bulldog is fine but the RS is noticeably wrong.
I know how to true them up and so after loosening the appropriate fixings and pumping the forks up and down I set about the tightening sequence.  I consulted the handbook for a good few minutes before I came to the realisation that Kawasaki have not included Torque settings for anything on the front end at all.  Does anyone know how I can find out what they are?
