Fitted a HEL brake line kit to the GSX14.
Recently stripped and rebuilt the calipers. (Annual thing with these calipers)
Since then the brake lever has been rock hard but once moving the lever comes almost back to the bar, causing brown trouser moments.
Braking force is still very good, so no leaks or air trapped.
Fitted new lines... issue is now more apparent.

Take calipers off, spin front wheel...
Fecking discs are banana shaped  :bawl:

Nope, totally bolloxed.
The bobbins are nice and free.

There is about 5mm lateral deformation in the lhs disk. About 2mm in the rhs.

Leave them in your trouser press overnight ?
To be happy, I don't need private helicopters,a Florida house or a yacht. I'm fine with my motorcycle,a trip to a forest in Bavaria and some lunch money.

n softly and slowly as it buried itself in a very muddy section rutted up to hell by tractors and 4x4's
certainly easier to pick up than the KLR
but this wouldn't keep up on the roads like the KLR did

Had a quick check over the V50 as I can now take her up for her MOT, and tomorrow looks a decent day.

Bloody oil drip is back!  ###

Looks like it's the bottom of the front engine cover that's leaking, not the sump after all: it's hard to see for sure as the fins confuse what you can see, and the gaskets for the cover & sump are pretty much in the same place.

Front cover comes off with the engine in place, it's just a bit fiddly as the alternator cover has to come off, then the stator needs persuaded off the crankshaft before the 12 bolts holding the cover on are dealt with & you're into the timing chain.

The ignition pickups are bolted to the cover and they still show the legacy of the dodgy wiring this bike came to me with:

I did repair this a little, but there's just not enough free wire to do much with one of them so I think this is something to replace this autumn as Gutsibits have a few sets on the 2nd hand shelf.

Everything's back together again but it's too late to check she fires up OK.

I took the TS out to the local vintage show yesterday and noticed that the intermittent fuel overflow issue from last year was back so decided to strip the carb down when I got home. I found some black dusty stuff in the inlet of the carb & wondered how that could have got past the air filter so had a quick look inside...

I'm no expert in filtration systems, but does it look like this needs re-oiling???  :stirpot:

I've ordered a replacement and will look at checking it a little more often than every 5 years. I've also had a good look inside the engine with an endoscope and see nothing in there to clean out.

Following numerous headshakes and near tank-slappers yesterday, I carried a bit of  investigating and discovered yet another KTM foible. It would appear that the head bearings weren't always as tight as they should be. As ever KTM make the job simple and straight forward, lift off the handle bars and the top clamp and the pre-load nut is there. It tightened 90 degrees by finger pressure alone.

I removed the splattered hoards and then replaced the handguards I'd removed in a vain attempt to feed some air to my gloves.

Their removal didn't make the slightest bit of difference....

I also took the lining out of my rancid helmet again (I'd also washed it less  than a month ago) and chucked it in the wash with the rest of my stuff.

Yesterday at 1130, feeling like I have been wasting bike time I got the T120 out and rode 353 miles to stay a few days in Goodwick. Since I upgraded the suspension the bike rides so much better and the 2 into 1 exhaust feels (or maybe sounds) like the bike has better low to mid range punch. Battling blustery headwinds all the way and some serious "Welsh mist" for the final 30 miles did not dent, what was for me a great ride.
This doesn't last forever, so do it while you can.
