If it is like my gen 1 fazer ,check the pulley for rot /free action. It rusted  on mine ,and that is what did for the cables.I got a second hand pulley and every time I put the bike in the garage I squirted a dose of GT85 down the cover and the problem didn't come back.

The CBR1000 from 2017 onwards and the CBF1000 have issues with seized exhaust butterfly valves.

The usual solution is remove the cables and the valve plate. - No Valve, No Problem.

OK.. so if I "delete" the valve and cables..  the servo box won't know??

Does the valve make any difference at low rpm?.

Valve moves freely.. the cable must have been damaged somehow..

If you just take off the cables and leave the servo connected  to do it's thing ,it will be fine,no codes. But you may find you cannot remove the flap with out surgery,in which case you need to wire it in the open position.
The exhaust flap at the silencer ,unlike the gen 1 fazers at the header, are more to do with passing emmisions than horsepower delivery.
On some bikes with it removed and an open can it can cause popping on the overrun.
Most bikes have some form of air injection to burn off unused fuel on the overrun.Part of the flaps duty is to close on the overrun to muffle the pops as the fuel is burnt.
As long as you have the std can with it's many chambers rather than a straight through after market it should be fine.

Popping on the over run is something worth paying extra for, as long as it's not too loud it sounds great. IMHO.   :thumb::auto-dirtbike:

Unfortunately it is not that sort of popping, it pops with every piston stroke as the fuel is burnt, sounds more like a very quick series of wet farts  :icon_wink:

Ho hum

You can hear it here on Volnys bike as he goes into a corner.

Yes, I heard the fart. There isn't a tinny hole in the exhaust is there? Great video, I guess there were a few red faces after that.  :thumb:

The near enough straight through Piper system I had on my GS850 could pop for England on overrun, I loved, but I doubt the locals did  :)

Robotstar5,
That pic brings back some memories, three mates out ripping up the countryside as a younger man.
GS 750, Harris stubby,.. Z650, Piper , .........and poor old me at the back trying to keep up on my GS550 ,std, getting the full aural experience.
I seem to remember Piper Cross airfilters too?
But it was a while ago  :icon_wink:

Ho Hum

Doc,
The thing I like on the vid is the "scritch"  you hear on nearly every corner as Volny decks the pegs.

My Varadero with it's Dominator straight through exhausts (without baffles), K&N air filter and PAIR system removed will pop and bang incredibly load.

There are villagers in mid Wales who's years are still ringing from the last time we went through there a couple of years ago in August.

I've been told riders behind me have used the popping as a tell if the road is clear ahead or not when I'm leading.  :auto-dirtbike:  :auto-dirtbike: (popping = traffic, slow down / bark and roar =  road clear, go faster)

I can verify that. When you hear the Varadero's taps opening you're already too late for dropping a gear and winding it on.  :) :auto-dirtbike:

OK.. thank you..
I shall inspect and prob secure the cables out of the way for now and ensure the flap is at least open..
Cable may break on the trip end of may so if it's "sorted" before, I won't have to do a roadside repair.
The Varadero give an occasional flutter.  And of course if you hit the kill switch you can get a good one..
