Price of ACF 50
« on: May 17, 2021, 10:23:32 »
I'm having a very tough time finding local-ish shops that sell ACF 50, but I came across this offer.
4L for 146€ (125£, 31£ per litre)
I don't have any experience with this stuff. Is this a good price? And how much ACF 50 do you normally use up in, say, a year?

I'm a fair weather leisure biker but I do enjoy a good detailing session more than most and I have only used 100ml in 2 years.
It goes a heck of a long way, I would think 4ltrs would be several lifetimes worth for most people.
I do prefer the non-aerosol stuff though if you can find the 1ltr bottles with pump bottle included in the EU.

This has almost the same price per litre as the 4L canister, so it does in fact seem like the better option (I'll need the spray bottle anyway).

Some further information: I do like the occasional ride in the rain, and I wouldn't be using it only for my V-Strom but also for my buddy's bike as well as two all-weather scooters. So, all in all,  four motorised two-wheelers.

Good tip with the non-aerosol stuff is to sit the spray bottle full of ACF50 in a bowl of warm/hot water for a few minutes before spraying.
This thins the ACF50 and makes it spray better, then just wipe with a soft cloth to spread and remove excess.
Happy cleaning.

I acquired a second hand compressor and bought a cheap/smallish paint gun to spray the ACF50 onto the bike. It covers everywhere (not tyres & brakes of course) in a very thin layer which is all you need.

I swear to Rossi, this stuff is absolutely impossible to come by here in Austria without paying a fortune for shipping. Two days ago I finally found a shop offering the 1L bottle+spray bottle and bought it, and today they sent me an email saying they've transferred the money back because they don't actually have it in stock. Very professional. Sigh... Heck, I've even been on Google search page 8 on multiple different search queries.

I bought a 4 litre container a few years ago from an aeronautical supplier for a very good price. It will see me out!

If I remember correctly, this stuff has a shelf life - there should be a date on it somewhere. No idea what the downside (if any) is of using some beyond its date.

I very much doubt that ACF50 ‘goes off’ if in a sealed container. I certainly can’t see any evidence from googling the product.
