Deep Bass Exhaust and Hi!!!
« on: December 27, 2014, 01:30:51 »
Hi,

New bloke looking to buy a Glee near the end of January (some strategy thoughts here for that specific time of the year)

Anyway, I've been looking at all the aftermarket exhausts for something that would be bolt on with no mapping needed that gives a deep bass noise but not a drone at speed and irritating to everyone within 2 miles.

I've came down to the Two Brothers like most would but wondered if there is anything else near to it that's maybe not as loud? Also from what I can see the Two Brothers for the Glee is a full system which I'd imagine needs a map?

I'll just add, reason I'm looking for this is 1. Sound nice, 2. Helps when filtering

I'd appreciate any helpknowledge in this area

Thanks and Hi! (First Post!)

Deep base note means large expansion can with large opening. This will not be quiet at speed.
Sorry but its physics.

I have a straight through can (beowulf) that is loud at standby and deafening at 70mph. The standard baffle makes the cruising noise bearable but still deep/louder than stock.
The quiet baffle I bought makes it only slightly louder than stock but deeper tone and meatier if you get what I mean. Perfect for cruising but if you want louder pipes for commuting forget it.

You need to make the choice.
1. Louder pipe
Or
2. Quiet when cruising
Or
3. Somewhere between the 1 and 2

Thanks, I may go for the Two Brothers then as there seems to be a good deal on Amazon http://www.amazon.com/Two-Brothers-Raci ... uctDetails
It does say full system though which I'm guessing needs a map?

I've checked the videos of the different exhausts but it's hard to go by what you hear in them vrs real life, this time of the year is hard to see any out and about

Hi and welcome.
Everyone is different,  I personally don't  subscribe to the ''loud cans save lives'' crap.
I've cut a few stock systems and  removed the cat with good success in the past. A bit freer flowing,  nice rounded sound without being in anyway noisy or annoying,
Looks stock,  cheap and no need to remap either. ;)

Get the Two Brothers and them buy a Power Tip for them. Its essentially a baffle. It takes down the db by about 8. IMO no other exhausts sounds as incredible as two brothers on a vstrom.

I've also done this.

I agree with the above but not the quiet part. Mine is loud and extremely bass'y. I filter every day and can confirm that more cars move out of my way now than they did before.

I can shoot a short video if required.

I've been looking about and also spoke to Martin at MTC
He mentioned his exhausts are 3/4 systems and don't need a remap but might not fit it there is a centre stand so would need to check measurements etc. I've also seen scorpion mentioning about not needing a remap.

How can this be if they are not slip on's (3/4 systems)
Does the fuel injection really adjust that much to suit them?

Also, the Two Brothers models 2012- http://www.twobros.com/sku/005-36201/ex ... LL-13.html

Seem to be race only

If you look, the stock system has no seperate end can - it's  integral to the pipework with short headers attaching it to the engine
Any afmarket system will be a 3/4 or full system unless there are any that require you to cut the stock system,  fit an adapter/linkpipe & can but you've then lost the stock system unless you get it welded back up.

I can't  comment on the requirement for engine map/pc but it's  probably worth taking the advice of the system supplier or manufacturer.
