Title: Daytona Heated Grips
Post by: mrklunk on August 02, 2023, 20:40:25
Anyone got Daytona heated grips? I just bought a nearly new DL650. It has them fitted but they are not working. I press and hold the button for 3-5 secs and no signs of life. Any advice on what to look for?

Have you checked they're getting power ..?

Check where they're connected,  it's probably got an inline fuse .

No idea about the Daytona grips but the first thing to do is check the power at various places in the circuit to the grips, starting at the controller. If you have power there then the fault lies beyond the controller. If no power then check the source.
Have you got a multi meter? You will need one.
Does the wiring go straight to the battery or are they connected to a switched power source, is there a fuse in the circuit, is there another switch in the circuit?

I'm technically inept but will remove the seat and have a look. The rest of the bike is fine so yes it's probably a fuse/connector. Wish the last owner had chosen Oxfords though. These things look a bit sketchy.

These might help.
It looks like they may have been connected straight to the battery, if they followed the instructions, the circuit has got a fuse, which will be quite close to the battery, and three connections that may require checking.

I currently have old school daytona's , they use to be the best in my opinion which is why sourced a second hand set as they are no longer made.
This was some years ago and they are still working.  :)

Hope you find the problem,  lots of good advice on here ..
