Title: Beowulf Exhausts - now with video!
Post by: stinkerbill on May 08, 2009, 08:13:15
Just arrived!

Will get them fitted over the weekend and post pics

They have a removable baffle, but judging by the fact that I can see straight through the silencer doesn't hold out much luck of them actually doing much to lessen the volume!

 :thumb:

Side note: The lady at Beowulf was very polite and was a pleasure dealing with them!

Post by: stinkerbill on May 11, 2009, 17:15:17
I paid £300 but I think someone made a mistake!

The day after I ordered them, they move them to the second or third page of products - I think they'd been put on the site at the wrong price!

I paid £300 incl. delivery, but they're now listed at £390 (excl delivery):
http://beowulf-performance-products.com ... &catid=264 (http://beowulf-performance-products.com/shop/item.asp?itemid=7500&catid=264)

But they have standard outlet cans for £290 still:

Post by: VstromDan1000 on May 11, 2009, 17:30:24
they look the dogs danglies :thumb:

are they much lighter than the original ones?  any remapping or T.R.E. fitted?? :)))
Title: Re: Beowulf Exhausts
Post by: stinkerbill on May 12, 2009, 09:18:32
They're much lighter than the stock - I don't know exact figures.

They were super easy to fit and no, I've not remapped or done anything. Beowulf do say that nothing is required, but to be honest, it might benefit from it - that said it seem to be running fine.

I know I was lucky in benefitting from their mistake, but Hello, even the £290 ones with standard outlets look pretty nice!

Title: Re: Beowulf Exhausts
Post by: stinkerbill on May 12, 2009, 12:37:42
Yeah - for me they're great - not silly loud but a nice proper V-Twin note - and that's with the baffles in
Title: Re: Beowulf Exhausts
Post by: badger 1050 on May 12, 2009, 14:48:31
are they loud enough to pi** the neighbours off if you was to go out early in the morning say before 5
Title: Re: Beowulf Exhausts
Post by: stinkerbill on May 12, 2009, 14:51:34
Loud enough for them to know when you're leaving and coming home, but (hopefully) not loud enough to have them come knocking on your door to complain

good question, I was wondering the same :thumb:
Title: Re: Beowulf Exhausts
Post by: badger 1050 on May 12, 2009, 16:52:51
when I had my gsxr I had a remus can on it that was loud nobody complained but alot of people stop talking to us on the street which didn't bother me so much but hassle for her indoors when she goes up the school
Title: Re: Beowulf Exhausts
Post by: stinkerbill on May 12, 2009, 17:06:33
Yeah, whenever I've put new pipes on my bikes I try not to get silly-loud ones, but loud enough to make me grin.

At the end of the day I like my neighbours and respect the fact that they might not love the sound of an open-pipes V-twin!

When I leave each morning, I do my best to start and go, not sit around revving the nuts of my bike and if I leave early, I push it  the 10 meters to the end of the road.

Little things but keeps everyone happy.

another quick question.........  are yours 380mm or 450mm?????? :thumb:
Title: Re: Beowulf Exhausts
Post by: stinkerbill on May 15, 2009, 08:22:17
They're the 380mm ones

I think the longer ones would look a bit too long

They sound great.  :thumb:

I looked at their web site, they don't list an exhaust for the 650 but I might still give them a call when the time comes.  Who knows, if there is enough interest they might add it to their range.

they look and sound good was the baffles in or out I noticed a bloke at work has 1 on his bandit and that sounds good but run it with the baffle out all the time  :thumb:

Oh and that's with the baffles in - plenty loud enough without being offensive

Post by: stinkerbill on May 17, 2009, 21:01:39
Wow! £220's too good to argue with!

AS for for fuel efficiency... I have no idea. To be honest it's not something I've ever even considered worrying about when buying new exhausts!

And no, I've not done any re-mapping. I'm sure it'd help, but having not done it hasn't really affected the bike at all.

If anyone is interested ......... just got a set of Beowulf fitted, more for the weight saving (significant) then anything else - went for the slightly longer ones because alledgedly the 1000 exhaust pulses are hard on the internals of all exhausts and the bigger they are the longer they may last?  In my opinion they look nicer than the standard pipes and the carbon caps finishes them off nicely.  Build quality is good considering the price and the lifetime warranty is a nice touch.  Noise - what a difference, with the baffles in they sound deep, purposeful and entertaining, changes the very nature of the bike - but the good news is that at cruising speeds the sound lowers and it just becomes a background 'thrum' which is good for distance work.  Baffles out ..... if you want to hear what a Ducati on open race cans sounds like then just pop round and ignore the badge on the tank - I rode past my girlfriends house who had her windows closed and TV on and the text message read 'that better not be you!', not for the faint hearted but fun never the less. Fuelling seems OK with a small flat spot at 3750rpm but a much more prenounced pull past 6000rpm.  It may be all in the mind but I think that the weight saving helps the rear suspension do less work and seems to have balanced the bike a bit better, who knows .........

So for my K5 1000, are you all recommending the 380mm or longer ones, what's the best price anyone has got, and how easy are they for a bloke who know about both ends of a hammer to fit!?
Title: Re: Beowulf Exhausts - now with video!
Post by: VstromDan1000 on February 01, 2010, 17:05:04
for me, its the 380 stubbies!

I think they finish the back end of the bike off perfectly.

I'm as mechanically minded as a one armed, bind, senile gibbon, but I fitted mine with ease.

Prices jump around but check out the MCN show or similar in your area and you’ll get a good price.  The saving you make will have to be spent on ear plugs!
