Suzuki Vario Windscreen
« on: June 20, 2021, 20:20:46 »
Does anyone have any experience with this screen on a V-Strom 650 2020 model ?

How much better is it than the oem screen ?

And to make things interesteing, and because this looks so cool : anyone have any experience with this screen from Givi  ?

I've been thinking about the second one, as it's a little wider than the original one, and about the same height. The original screen doesn't give much turbulence for me, but I think most of the noise I hear is from air coming around the sides of the screen. Can't go too wide as it will then foul the handlebars.

I ordered the Suzuki Vario touring screen with my 2020 650XT.  The demo bike had the standard screen and the wind noise was unacceptable (I’m 188cm), but I liked the bike otherwise so went ahead.  The Vario screen is 20mm wider and 30mm taller, plus the adjustable aerofoil (which actually does make a difference).  Wind noise was much reduced vs the standard screen but helmet buffeting was still intrusive, so I made some extension brackets to raise the screen by 50mm and move the lower mounts forward by 10mm, effectively tilting the screen backwards.  This has pretty much fixed it, riding is now comfortable for me, but there are so many variables that it may not work for other riders.  Any remaining wind effect seems to be from around the sides of the screen, so it’s now an acceptable compromise.  Mirror extenders have helped with visibility, difficult to say if they affected the wind noise.

I have the first screen showed on the original post & I'm quite happy with it , seems to keep most of the wind turbulence of me when doing motor way speed's.
Mine is on the lower hole's on the standard bracket with the spoiler fully tilted faward at the top & I can see over the top. I have also changed the mirrors to Halford one's so that may contribute to the reduction in turbulence.
I was thinking of changing to a air flow screen but I'm quite happy at the moment. ( all the above is with the screen fitted to a 1000 xt so may be different  on the 650)

For anyone who wants more adjustability from their screen, these work well: https://www.bruudtcnc.de/shop/product_info.php?language=en&info=p392_bruudt-windscreen-adjusters-for-the-Suzuki-DL650-v-strom-year-2017-and-later-models-.html

That's interesting. I suppose these adjusters would work with the Givi screen I mentioned earlier ?

Putting these 45 mm higher might just be the sweet spot...
