After the saga of the power problems of running two heated jackets on the 650 earlier in the year, way back before Covid, I was left with a dilemma.........it meant that there was seven connections under the battery terminals! Not ideal & a longer bolt had to be fitted to get good few threads to bite.
I had the 12v feed to the headlight relays, the optimate lead, a 12v socket for the air pump, a lead to a twin USB under the seat for charging the comms overnight, a lead to the bigpie aux relay/fuse unit and the two heated jacket power leads.
I contacted bigpie with an idea I had and he said it was possible to make a unit up. Unfortunately a virus got in the way and bigpie got involved in saving the NHS
so it has taken a while for my little idea to become real. The parcel then went AWOL during delivery but eventually reached my house yesterday.
Today I have spent a few hours in the garage fitting it.
I now have just three connections on the battery terminals, the 12v to the headlight relays, the original bigpie aux. relay unit and the new bigpie fused outlet.
Because the new unit has four fused outlets I have been able to get rid of the inline fuses on the cables that are connected to it, making it a lot tidier under the seat.
Here's a photo of the unit and one of it fitted. The new unit is on the left, looking at the photo the old relay unit is on the right.
While I had the soldering iron out I made up a plug for the dealer mode socket. Not really necessary but.......
