Recent rides on the KTM 690 Duke have shown up the tyre wear after 3900 miles and so I want to fit something more able to cope with 'B' road surfaces than the tyres currently fitted. I have searched the Avon Tyres site but cannot find out if their Trailrider tyre is made "tubeless" or not. All of their publicity pictures show them fitted to spoked wheels. Does anyone out there use this tyre and know the answer ? and if so what do you think of them.

They are tubeless mate, our very own pasty demolisher and gravy drinker, Endintears will be along shortly to sing their praises.
He loves 'em.

Thanks TLP. I hope you are feeling better.

As TL says I had them on the Wee and put a pair on the 1190 about nine hundred miles ago.
Yes I like them, they score for me on form function and practicality.
IMHO The tread pattern gives a nice Traily/Adventury look yet they still manage to perform like a good sports touring tyre on tarmac.
The rear is dual compound to extend the mileage, and up to now I've managed to get them at what I consider a good price.
I believe KTM are fitting them as the OE tyre on some of their bikes.

Now that was a good report from a knowledgeable young man. Well done endintears, I love this site. :thumb:

Yes ditto that comment.

Today I visited a bike dealer who contacted an Avon Tyre supplier and ordered the Trailriders for the KTM 690. Trade price with VAT just under £300.

Mmm I did notice there didn't seem to be any particularly good deals at the moment on the sizes your bike uses :GRR:
And sorry if this is just rubbing salt in the wound I can see them on ebay as a pair for £285.14 free p&p
I got the ones for the 1190 for £239 from M&P and it takes a big rear tyre, I think the Vstrom would be about the same.
Suppose it's too much to hope the £300 includes fitting...

Trail attack 3s could have been another good choice but they're £280.
Maybe tyres have just gone up recently like everything else

I think it's a sign of the times as the pound takes a tumble everything will cost more.
My dealer friend was telling me that an agent for a certain tyre distributor had to cancel a shipment of tyres. Three container loads. This was because of the dramatic increase in the cost of shipping. The price he had quoted within the trade would now lead to a 30% loss. He could not just jack up his ( already agreed) prices so he cancelled the order. Perversely, this may well lead to a tyre shortage and that will raise the prices.
As the UK imports most of it's food then these increased shipping costs will generate similar price increases.
Maybe it's "Dig For Victory" allotment time again.

Hardly a thread hijack as it is primarily a Vstrom forum after all, but for some retail supply and demand reason still (IMHO) an attractive deal for the 650 strom.

I've got Avon Trailriders on my DL650. 2014. tubeless on cast wheels.
I never go off road. really pleased with them. done about 3500 miles. half worn. good in the wet. thinking of putting them on my 2007 Bonneville T100 next time.

I must have misheard the agent on the phone as they have taken £263 from my card. So that's nice.
