Hi from Holland
« on: January 03, 2016, 11:00:36 »
Hello to you all,

First a Happy New Year to all.
My forum name is Hansie, I'm 55 and live in the Netherlands, near Amsterdam.
After years of driving pleasure on a BMW R1100RT, this 20 year old 'lady' had some technical problems.
After my last (wonderful) trip in October 2015 through the Italian Dolomites, I decided to look for another motorcycle.
A friend had already experienced a V-strom, which for me was a good reason to take a further look at this Suzuki.
Eventually I decided to go for a new DL1000. However, with some (other) additional aluminum cases for more luggage, cause  I like to make multi-day motorcycle trips.

I just had my first 1,000 miles and like the bike very well. It's all a bit more modern and drives fine.
I have less experience with the off-road section and will take a course next March.
In May, I want to drive to Denmark and take the ferry from there to the Faeroe Islands and Iceland for a motorcycle trip around the islands. This will mainly be on asphalt road but I don't mind some offroad tracks.

Enough new plans for the near future.
I like to read your experiences and will gladly follow this (UK) V-Strom forum.
Kind regards,

Hansie

Hello Hansie, I hope you complete your planned rides and can post some reports and photos.
This doesn't last forever, so do it while you can.

Hi Hansie and  :welcome:

I was lucky enough to spend a few days in the Faroes a couple of years ago. I even spotted a Strom there. That has to be an amazing landscape for riding in. I need to get to Iceland at some point now too.

We would all like to see a trip report on that one.

Enjoy the bike. Might be worth a read of the ECU thread in the 2014 1000 section in case it applies to yours.
