Hi from Basingstoke
« on: November 08, 2013, 22:59:50 »
Hi all I have actually owned a wee-strom before but never joined a vstrom forum in my previous ownership of one. I change my bikes like I change my pants and I have come back to one again because the deal I could get on a nearly new 2013 model was too good to turn down compared to what I would have got going down the tiger 800 route.
The Tiger 800 has the fast fun factor, I took one for a test ride and loved it. But the new shape strom is exciting for me as I had the older shape and look forward to the changes (mainly the suspension, I hated the fork dive).
I have put the deposit down, just haven't picked it up yet. The previous owner bought the adventure pack as well as heated grips and a scottoiler. So there isn't really any custom bits left to add. Maybe a fruity exhaust one day :)
Hope this forum is a friendly one, been on many and they vary so much.

First thoughts

Suspension better than wee.

Still buffeting even with touring screen.

Love this bike (don't think I will change again).

It's nice knowing I have ABS.

Suzuki top box is horrid compared to Givi I had on the wee, it rattles and doesn't feel very secure.

Much prefer the new dash, I've never liked an analogue speedo but I do like an analogue rev counter. Gear position indicator is a must. Perfect.

Riding position is perfect for me and I've tried every type of bike.

Fuel tank is very narrow which is good.
