[POSSIBLE] Spain and Portugal Escorted Bike trip
« on: May 07, 2016, 09:05:23 »
A lad I work with has booked up to go on an escorted bike trip, the details of which can be found below and through the associated link.
Unfortunately his wife has broken her leg and it is looking possible that he may no longer be able to take the trip so at this time he is testing the water to see if anyone would be interested in buying this trip off him. He has not revealed to me his expected price for this but the details of the original cost can be found via the link.

If anyone is interested then PM me your number and I will pass it on to him so that you can discuss it between yourselves and maybe come to an agreement.

Trip Details
Departing Plymouth on 12 June
Arriving Portsmouth 21 June

Fantastic roads and scenery in the Star Mountains of Portugal and the Picos de Europa
Customer choice - This tour is a firm favourite with our customers and to be honest we thought we could not improve on things, however, in 2015, we made some alterations to our routes and accommodation which made such a huge impression with our riders, that we will be repeating the format in 2016. Our only change will be a switch from September to a June date.

The combination of traffic free roads that endlessly twist and turn across landscapes that seem to go on for ever, and fantastic accommodation in the form of Spanish Paradors and Portuguese Pousadas make this one tour not to miss.

Our tour starts with an overnight ferry from Plymouth to Santander. On arrival, we head southwards into the Castilla y Leon region of Spain before turning westwards to pass through the Montezinho and Peneda -Geres National parks.

The beautiful Douro Valley is next, its terraced river banks covered with vines that have made this the Port wine capital of the world. Cockburns, Taylors, and Sandeman are just a few of the famous names you will see along the valley walls.

Our next destination is an old favourite, as we head for the Serra da Estrela Mountains, the highest in the country; they offer not only stunning scenery, but traffic free roads that our customers tell us are some of the "best they have ridden".

Crossing back into Northern Spain we re-enter the Picos De Europa.  What this area lacks in size, it makes-up for with attitude, with its jagged peaks, mountain valleys and beautiful coastline.  Our journey is completed as we take the Brittany ferry from Santander back to Portsmouth.

This is an Escorted Tour which means that although the guide will be with you, you are responsible for doing your own navigation. We provide a Tour Pack which will include a full itinerary, suggested route directions, Gpx waypoints and hotel location. This system suits many people, as it allows them to ride at their own pace and style, either alone or in small groups. However, if it is your first time abroad, or you just prefer, you may ride with the guide, who will act as your escort throughout the tour.
