what's the chance
« on: April 04, 2014, 23:03:28 »
The misses has just informed me, she has just washed my car keys.
They are my spare set, other ones packed up abt 2 years ago.
Have split the fob open, stuck it on the radiator to dry.
So what's the chance it will work.

Am thinking if it does not I will wash the misses phone see how she feckin likes it.
Mind you will have to learn how to use the washing machine 1st!

My 25 years of marriage has taught me that it will not be her fault but yours for leaving them in your pocket, and if you don't like it you can  do your own washing from now on :)  :)  :)
I look quick therefore I am.

Funny that, she said exactly the same. When I pointed out you need to check the pockets.
But not as nicely put as your post, imindoors

I did my washing machine licence some years back. It took me several lessons before I passed my test and now I'm rather good at it!  Not washed a phone or bunch of keys in ages! :thumb:
Seriously though, it's an argument you are NEVER going to win, so just give in now...

I get told off most weeks after she finds a screw in the washing machine . My best one to date is a Stanley knife , she wasn't happy ... Best of luck with the key..

As someone who only has one key left for his car (and knowing how much a replacement is), I feel you pain.

dropped my bike keys once, in a bucket of water. didn't find them for 2 days but opened the alarm fob and dried it off on the radiator and it still worked fine  :shy:

As long as you have not tried to use it in any way, not pressed any of the remote buttons etc, then drying it out SLOWLY and gradually, not exposed to high heat (as it might affect the electronics), then it should be OK. The problem is when people 'test' their electronic gadgetry, be it car keys, mobile phones or whatever before it is fully dried out. The water short circuits the electronics which 'kills' the gadget, so as long as you have not 'tested' it and have dried out slowly over very low heat and then wiped any scum off it, then you should be fine.

If it does not work, then in the words of the great Nelson:

Haaaa  haaaa    :haha:

Thanks for your words of sympathy Martin.
Nothing worse than having your arms full of stuff, trying to put the key in the lock to open the car.

From one prof's quote haaaaa haaaa to another prof's quote.
Its alive!
Just put key fob back together after a night by the radiator and haypresto
Car opens and closer no problem and my key smells of lenor summer fresh.

When my son was living in a small apartment he stored his iron in the washer to keep it out of the way.  Needless to say eventually it happened, the iron went through a wash cycle with a load of clothes.  Not only did the iron still work,  but the washer was not damaged.  I've known folk who have had a drum wrecked by a 50p coin left in a pair of jeans. He is the sort of person who falls into a barrel of effluent and comes out smelling of roses. I fall into a barrel of effluent and come out smelling even worse than the effluent.

well I didn't win the lottery.
But went out to celebrate  sister in laws birthday, my misses got talking to a woman in one of the
the pubs, they had 4 tickets going spare for a motown show at Liverpool empire.
They were only going to go to waste, so we bunged them 20 quid and had a brilliant night. :occasion-balloons:
