Hi Peeps, Andy (fatrat) has been helping me with a satnav bracket for the Glee and `I am about nearly there` (I say this to my wife just before my left eye closes and my tongue slips out the side of my mouth.....) so I thought an update would be a good idea.
I hope to be able to make these in a couple of weeks - my current problem is finding the spacers for a `commercially viable` price. I normally don't give a toss and pay top dollar for the best bespoke stuff (quite often you get what you pay for....) but if I can get something `off the shelf` it will allow me to price it as best as I can - don't know about price but it will be cheaper than the best on the market but will be better made than the best on the market. Andy has already done a very kind review.
http://www.v-strom.co.uk/reviews.htm (http://www.v-strom.co.uk/reviews.htm)
Here`s a link to a similar one on fleabay showing a price just shy of £100 - mine won`t be anywhere near that.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/like/18129333 ... 80&ff14=95 (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/like/181293337258?hlpht=true&ops=true&viphx=1&lpid=95&device=c&adtype=pla&crdt=0&ff3=1&ff11=ICEP3.0.0&ff12=67&ff13=80&ff14=95)
Andy is babbling (again) about spacers for a certain screen - I haven`t got any idea what he`s on about (I often fall asleep while he`s talking to me  ) but I will get the suggested spacers together as I think it allows a different screen to be fitted...........
So, expect a price of around £60 +/- a tenner (I think......) and I hope to be able to produce them in a couple of weeks. If anyone is desperate for one (ie going on a trip soon) and not a :text-datsphatyo: I won`t let you down.
here`s an image (courtesy of Andy) which, of course, won`t come out coz I still don't know what I am doing :auto-dirtbike:

Thought about doing one so that the 4 hole Garmin mount would mount onto the bracket itself rather than going through the RAM mount system?
The SW Motech (which I've got) has this sort of idea, though I think its a bit over complicated / fussy.
-
The Ram Ball/Arm combination gives the flexibility to mount any GPS at any angle, far less complicated :thumb:

I`m kind of siding with fatrat with this one.................

Each to their own, but I dislike the not getting it in the same place if you undo the RAM arm, and unless properly tight it'll sag if you hit any bumps, and then the vibration damping is compromised. Whatever, it's nice to see a UK alternative for our bikes
-
I have had a stonking great Tomtom Rider swinging around on there without sagging  or vibration issues :thumb:
-
is a TomTom Rider something like a Power-Ranger ?
-
No it's like a house brick.
-
blokes price will be £50 including 20% b*stard VAT plus about £6 postage. (and that's the forum members price - contact my lovely assistant shelly@cymarc.co.uk if you want one)
I guess I would say this but this is bloody good value - it will be as good as the Migsel one (which in my opinion is a quality bit of kit, respect to them) but about half the price!

Mark,
Pull your finger out and get it added to your Mickey Mouse online shop :thumb:
-
To save me the bother checking & measuring.... will this bracket fit with my Madstad bracket ?
If yes I'll be having one
(it's a 2013 Glee btw)
Gary
-
I can't see any reason why not.
-
A Madstad bracket would have to use the same fairing mounting holes as the satnav mount. That's probably not a problem given the Madstad's adjustability for height. If you wanted the lowest mounting for the screen and the satnav mount wouldn't clear in that position, it could be a problem but it looks unlikely.

If it doesn`t send it back (or give it to fatrat) and I`ll 100% refund you :liar:
(but seriously, I would)

God, I wish I was clever enough to understand this :lala:

Will the satnav bracket work in the lowest of the three sets of windscreen mounting holes in the fairing? If it will, the question is moot.

Looks good :thumb:

Fatrat, can you answer this mate?
-
Looks good :thumb:
ta - and that's thanks down to fatrat, he had the casting vote on the final design.
not that he has any fekkin idea...................

I have my doubts it'll fit. Had a look just now but it's too dark to see properly. I'll post up a photo of my Madstad bracket tomorrow and you can tell me if you recon it'll work. Hope it does.... looks a nice bit of kit.

I worked with Madstad to make sure the bracket would work with the SW Motech bracket with each using different mounting holes. The SW-Motech angles the bracket to fit while the Cymarc uses a flat design and standoffs to clear the center fairing bump which won't work if the Madstad has to use different holes than the Cymarc. As long as the Madstad uses the same holes as the Cymarc though, it shouldn't be a problem. The Madstad bracket will fit on top of the Cymarc bracket like it does on the SW-Motech bracket in this picture.

That all makes perfect sense greywolf, thanks.
As I have my Madstad bracket set on the lowest position I'd need to change it to the highest position to use the cymarc bracket unless there is still plenty room for the ram ball if I keep it on the lowest one.
It's starting to get a bit hit or miss now...

-
Why is it hit or miss?
-
Because I might only be able to use the cymarc bracket on the highest setting, a setting I didn't like my screen at. I know everything is adjustable with the Madstad so I'll move my set up from it's current low position to the high one and see if I like it. Hopefully it'll be OK as I'd like to give the fella my business again.
-
If the RAM ball impinges on the fairing in the lower hole set, it can probably be mounted in the front of the satnav bracket. If the Madstad bracket still doesn't clear, it can be mounted on spacers to move it out a bit.

Stupid Question time..... :fix:
Where could I get the longer M5 Allen Bolts and longer spacers, I think I may need? and what length?
I have a Givi Airflow screen fitted.
Also, seeing as I'm at it any way.......how easy is the Sat Nav cable routed from here to the 12v socket fitted on the right handside of my bike?
Thanks in advance.
-
I got these:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/10-Pack-M8-mm ... 4d1324b044 (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/10-Pack-M8-mm-Inside-D-Nylon-Plastic-Spacers-Various-Sizes-and-Lengths-/331033653316?pt=UK_DIY_Material_Nails_Fixing_MJ&var=&hash=item4d1324b044)
Pick your size - standard on the MRA touring screen are M5 15mm x 15 long and 15mm x 10 long.
For the M5 bolts I used these:

yes pal - it ain`t cheap but if you are willing to pay then please contact my highly desirable Shelly at shelly@cymarc.co.uk and she will quote you Donkey off :ty:
-
Quote you donkey off? Is that some kind of northern sex game?
-
Well you might have thought that but its the forum filters I think.
It won`t let me print a-s-s as one word, putting in `donkey` (my wife's - and yours - pet name for me btw)

Is that a 2inch or 3inch ram socket in the in the picture?
I'm waiting on one from cosmos and wondering which one to order.
-
Any ideas if this fits comfortably behind / in front of (whatever you prefer, delete as necessary) a Givi AirFlow screen??
-

Great piece of kit ..fitted in 10 mins.. Used longer spacers under ram mount and screen to lift Suzuki vario screen ..seems great
Ram mount slightly vibey but great to have it high up above clocks , great to deal with Marc sent me longer m5 screws ...before the screen even arrived ! What a star !
:lala:
-
love the Sat Nav mount...
I need one for my 2011 model ( annaloge clocks )
do you do one ?
Tom.
-
received mine today, think I ordered it saturday, but fast delivery.I use the top holes for my standard screen
so I used the small spacers top and bottom of bracket,so spacers, bracket, screen on top of bracket, inserted supplied bolts, tightened everything up job done,it did take me longer than 20 mins though, kept dropping the spacers on the floor lol .I actually think that there is neither a right way or wrong way to fit this bracket, just fit it as it suits your set up,great service great bit of kit
