Definitely get some ear plugs, hearing damage is gradual and you don't notice it. When you do it's way too late and it can't be repaired. You could end up suffering tinnitus (like myself) or any number of other awful hearing/ear related problems (like imbalance and such.) A box of 200 pairs of Howard Leight Bilsom 303L earplugs will work out 17p a day (if you wear one pair all day.) You can get custom made plugs that work out very cheap if you take how much they cost you per day over their lifetime. That is some seriously cheap hearing insurance. Put them in correctly, nice and deep, and you'll wonder why you never wore them before. You can hear everything still, it's just a lot quieter, wind noise is all but gone and you arrive at your destination fresher rather than tired of all the noise. You never realise how much noise tires you until you take it away.
