Self Indulgent, but I love it.
-
From 10:55 for about 20 seconds shows the utter precision of Ptarmigan and she who has yet to be named, in meeting, how slick looking is that wee section of film :)
-
That was quite enjoyable with a coffee, I'm starting editing my videos :lala: I renamed the thread to "Stromtrekkers II Videos", lets see if we can keep all the videos that everyone made for this in one place. If separate threads pop up I'll merge them into this one. I'll do the same with a pictures thread in the Pictures section :thumb:
-
Been going through the videos I took, we got lucky, the camera died just after I went up the steep rocky hill past the 2 4x4s that looked a bit stuck. Unfortunately didn't get anything after that which would have been great for a vid, but next time I will try to remember to charge it more regularly. Will stick up vids later this week after working through it all :thumb:
-
I can't get my videos uploaded, at over 23 minutes and over 1.5 gig, so I'll break them into chunks, and miss out the odd wee bit for brevity :(
Mad Phil by the way, deserves a medal for being on road tyres on his V , how we laughed.
If you don't pee yourself (or at least laugh) at the end when I 'CRASH' , you have no right being on a bike site, hehehe
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vJP45swAG60
(edited so the link worked, doh)
-
What happened at the end there Hutchie, did the camera fall off the bike? lol
-
Heh heh heh! No pee, but I did laugh meself into a dizzy turn! That was pure comedy timing, hutchie! :thumb:
-
Aye, totally like you've been framed, heheheh
Next.... oh, who might fall at the end of this bit I wonder?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Op_gOXSZpaE

Great vids Hutchie, hope the flask wasn't damaged at the start when you were doing your leaning practice..
lol
-
Continuation, mud and nice wee roads.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Q9qnhrfNg4
-
Love the sound going through the water :thumb:
-
Just nice roads n such.
12 stroms and a divvie, ridiculously great. It was like being in a parade sometimes lol
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lFhPta_tbD8
-
I'll do the other one some other time, I can't look at that wee uploady thing any more.
-
Even brawny Scotsmen only say "Ooops" when turning on the ignition whilst still in gear?! lol
-
I know, that 'so macho' was written for me, it was I tells you.
ANyway, here's first bit of 2nd vid (I can barely keep track of this, hehe)

Other Vid part two

-
Great vids Hutchie, good enough res to watch full-screen, great roads some of which are in such a bad state they could be in Oxfordshire!!!!
Two little points, the 08 Wee in front of you - the indicators didn't seem so bright, and Juvecu's Wee is silly-wide with those sidecases - XP wide!!!
-
Was looking at that myself, they don't feel that wide when you're on the bike though. They are 40 litres and wider rather than flatter, if that makes sense. The good thing about them is that they leave a bit of room for the good lady to get her feet on the pegs without them being in the way much, Givi ones are almost on the rear pegs.
-
Worked through most of the video, looks like it will be 5 parts which are each about 10 to 15 mins, just need to add music, titles, a "starring" page, maybe some captions and upload them.

What about some Rob Dougan as soundtrack? :thumb:
-
Who's that?
I was thinking some ZZTop and a few other random songs would do the trick
-
What about a little Meatloaf - V-Strom Out Of Hell?
-
Ha! Yes, think I might include that :thumb: Any other suggestions? I'm a bit out of ideas myself :shy:

what is it with you blokes and 'Top Gear Driving CD musak' ? eh? You need your earholes educating, it's all those rubber things you stick in your ears.
Get a whole Hawkwind album on there, nothing else is good enough.
Or a bit of New Kids on the Block, they are really gorgeous.
At a push, some Stranglers or some brilliant Hot Chip.
Thank you and I am now wearing my flameproof string undies, so fire away girls :neen:

what about some Gong or Here n Now then eh Hutchie?????
-
I was gonny say put the You album on, or Camembert Eleqtrique, but I thought that might be pushing my luck.
:)
-
Hmmm, I feel a thread coming soon for music that is good riding to and for dubbing video's :lala:
As Hutchie say's Hawkwind - Silver Machine
Stranglers - Walking on the Beaches
Black Sabath - Paranoid
Alice Cooper - Poison
etc..

explains a lot mate that your a hawkfan n gong freak :-)
I reckon stoned innocent frankenstein has the be the ultimate go faster tune :-)
n maybe throw motorhead by motorhead in ?
kings of speed, shouldn't do that, masters of the universe , shot down in the night n urban guerilla
then maybe gongs "squeezing sponges over policemans heads" and oily way, maybe even radio gnome for a chilled ride :-)
floatin anarchy n opium for the people by here n now
n maybe driving to amsterdam and space shanty by Khan
there's a few to go on with :lala: :lala:  :obscene-drinkingchug: :obscene-drinkingchug: :obscene-drinkingchug: :obscene-drinkingchug:

Extreme ways beckons me thinks. You know Moby re-mixed that track for each Bourne movie? This is almost the best mix: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VTIkDmNVJeA (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VTIkDmNVJeA)
I have some I've done previously... Skiing and gliding not motorcycling though and they are me... it was when I thought I was the only Vstrom rider on you tube...http://youtu.be/Bh79UQvkr5M (http://youtu.be/Bh79UQvkr5M) is one of my favourite

that didn't work. that would have been JSTROM and his wee. I'm off to search the how to section for using picassa.

Ahh now I understand the 'glider' bit!
I may have taked a vid on glider's cam but not sure I had it switched on properly!!
Oooops I will hand it back so you can take a look!
Hope the 'motorhoming' is going OK!
Cheers

Brilliant Weestomer! Especially the one of me
-
Works really well from the back.
The flyby type one was very nice.
Ahhhhh, I'm there in my head, bouncing off some rock or another and laughing in me helmet.
I'm off for another wee watch.
-
Part 1 of 5 is done, should be uploading to night and will be ready for your viewing pleasure tomorrow :thumb:
The rest to follow soon, I just need to add music and a few captions here and there and they'll be ready :lala:
If you're subscribed to my YouTube channel you'll probably get email when they go public.
-
If you're subscribed to my YouTube channel you'll probably get email when they go public.
how do I do that?
-
Can anyone subscribe to your Youtube channel? if so how?
-
You have to get a youtube account - I think google force you to have one of theirs. Doesn't cost anything, but they like to know who you are so they can offer you targeted advertising and the like - don't forget when creating your videos to put your real name on them so that you can enforce copyright and blow you cover ( - that's my little problem!)
Numptynut did well with my camera, though it developed an additional fault and stopped storing video after about 10 min. Only sound. I'm editing it now, and will post shortly.
Many thanks to Numptynut for being such a good sport and doing the camera thing for me!
-
As mentioned, you need to have a YouTube/Google account (Google owns YouTube, authentication is linked between the two.) Then go to my channel (http://www.youtube.com/user/Juvecu) and subscribe, you can select to get email when I add new stuff.
-
looking forward to seeing them all.
I've just subscribed to your channel, but like last time I tried to view the videos from stromtrekking 1 I was presented with "Unfortunately, this SME music-content is not available in Germany because GEMA has not granted the respective music publishing rights".
Any chance you can do the hosting thing again? or I'll send you a couple of disks in a SAE.
I could view Hutchie's vid OK, why is this? answers on a postcard pls.
-
You get this with some Youtube content. Essentially it's because Juvecu has added music that Germans aren't allowed to listen to.
We'll see what happens with the music I added to my video (Gary Hoey's version of Hocus Pocus) which should be up sometime tomorrow!
-
Good on Numptynut for risking the camera - not the best footage - but great 1st attempt - and of course the camera was playing up:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v7t34R23ieI
-
Glider, couldn't sleep???
Nice video
-
Damnit, the upload didn't finish :bawl: Going to try upload it from work today, have it on a flash drive with me. Will post when it's up.
Edit: Oooh, the upload bandwidth at work is much better than at home, will take almost half the time to upload :lala:
-
And you get to upload it during work time! Happy days... :thumb:
-
It's only 1.04Gb, they shouldn't notice :eusa-shifty: If they do I'll just pretend not to know anything about computers. I've worked with a lot of those people before to know what to say to sound believable lol
-
V-Strom.co.uk - Stromtrekkers II - 13 & 14 August 2011 - Part 1 is now on YouTube for your viewing pleasure.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uWC67eIJ1wQ
ps. I've managed to find out how to set the videos to be available to mobile phones so you should be able to watch it on your phone.
-
I can't watch it on my laptop but I can on my phone. can't make out the text and it's not the best picture, but at least I get to see the video. Someone told me today that if I change my proxy settings I should be able to see videos on you tube, etc? I'll definitely have to google that one as I'm a bit of a computer melon.
If it's easy done Juv' could you put the videos on a host (thingy) like the vids from stromtrekking 1?
Great Video :auto-dirtbike: even in poor phone quality. I love the line of stroms! :auto-dirtbike: :auto-dirtbike:
-
Great vid Juv, well worth the small wait!
-
Uploading the vids will be a bit of trouble, they are 1080p wide screen vids, 15 mins equals 1gb and there are 5 parts this time. You might be able to set your YouTube account's location to the UK to watch the vids. Let me know if that doesn't work and I will see if I can find an alternative.
-
Thanks to all for your Videos. :ty:
-
that's nice Juv, I don't even get a mention, just cos I had to leave early :shy: . . . . .or is it because I'm a council tennant lol lol lol :thumb:
-
I only put the names in of the people in my videos. Took considerable effort just to remember them, I suck at names :shy: My vid was also just the from the Sunday just after you left, I haven't watched all the other people's vids, you're probably in a bunch of them :thumb: I guess I'm never going to hear the end of the council housing thing, serves me right!
-
lol lol lol lol lol
Good vid though mate :thumb:
-
What camera are you using Juvecu ?
-
See here (http://www.v-strom.co.uk/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=47&t=8961) for cam details.
Part 2 is on my flash drive, will upload it at work tomorrow :thumb:
-
RE Camera.. I bought one the same for spy stuff at work... (don't ask)
Its spot on :thumb:
-
Cracking part 1 video, Juvecu. I was grinning all the way through it, just like when we were actually doing it.
Can't wait for the other parts.... :thumb:
-
that's nice Juv, I don't even get a mention, just cos I had to leave early :shy: . . . . .or is it because I'm a council tennant lol lol lol :thumb:
I'd forgot that comment about council tennants, good on you bluestrommer, Your not the only one, n yes juv, we don't get the houses for free lol lol lol
-
Great videos, keep em coming....
great music too....it was good to hear Alice again.
But Glider65's version of Hocus Pocus (who is it?) was even better, it brought the memories of my first Jap bike (1973 Suzuki TS125) flooding back! :old: lol
-
ace vid juv, and numtynut
can't wait for the 4x4 ride by in part 2
ill even forgive you for using a meatloaf track
trust you to comment on the indicators lol lol lol
I th lol ought id got away with that one
lol lol
careful, I might leave em on in shropshire just to confuse you lol lol lol
found about 20km of green lane in radnor forest, just into Wales from the shropshire area I was thinking we might be able to link them in, about 8 miles of forest tracks and 2 500metre mountain passes lol lol lol
looks very interesting
and not far from rhayader pass and abergwesyn pass (the devils staircase)
glider, whos the version of hocus pocus by???
-
Hi all, the cover of Hocus Pocus was by Gary Hoey:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X0rAlUqVUAE
But this time of year (August) it would be great to have some vid to put to 'lunatic fringe' (not that any of us are anything other than 100% sane all the time of course!)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y4RCIgDgwWI
-
I honestly thought people get council houses for free :shy:
You're going to have to wait for Part 5 to see us on the really rough stuff and to see the two stuck 4x4s :) Part two is uploading, should be done before lunch, it has some more Meatloaf for you lol The rest of them won't have any Meatloaf, I can only handle him in small infrequent doses
-
The sports screen looks great, like your riding the 'Bat-bike' !
Juv, sorry bout this , but it doesn't run well on my computer (about 8 years old :shy: ) at 360 even, do you know of a way I can get it down to whatever 240 ? HD = no chance on this thing! I'm working on getting our newer computer running, so might just have to wait!
(10 mins later edit: OOps! sorry mate, just went onto your channel on Youtube and it works there!) :thumb:
-
Part 2, click the YouTube logo in the bottom right corner to watch it from YouTube so you can pick the resolution you want to view it in, etc.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oOnlHDgTjlY
-
Great resolution in 720p 0n youtube. The headcam does funny things to my eyes though, everytime you check your mirrors etc.
-
I'm a bit of an obsessive mirror checker, particularly when there's someone riding behind me. I tried to remember to only use my eyes when recording, but it's a deeply ingrained habit to turn my head too. I was thinking of mounting the camera on the bike next time, but haven't decided where and how yet.
-
Freshly uploaded: Part 3! :lala: (Now finally available to legally view!)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V28K71rheew
-
Juvecu, I can't see this one. its been blocked :angry-tappingfoot: :angry-tappingfoot:
Is it the music you've put on it??
-
Probably that bastard Bono... I'll redo it tonight.
-
Checked it, had U2 song and a song from The Rasmus, both blocked. Will change the music to someone else's, bastards :GRR:
-
More meatloaf!! haah
-
 Please tell me you weren't going to put whiny Bono on and ruin a good video... :ty:
-
It was Sunday Bloody Sunday, one of the few ones I liked (past tense...) I'm not much of a U2 or Bono fan, he talks to much crap about stuff he knows nothing about :GRR:
New music is in and I will upload it tomorrow.
-

we are going to have to educate you musicallu juv
please no more meatloaf lol lol lol lol lol lol lol
I can't take it any more lol lol lol lol lol
-
Actually, Meatloaf and U2 isn't really my type of music, had to download the Meatloaf stuff to put it in the vids (and deleted it afterwards ) My usual music is more towards the alternative/rock side of things, like Godsmack, Creed, Live, Bush, Metallica, Skunk Ananzie, AC/DC, Evanescence and such. I'm digging out the oddities in my music collection as they make better riding music for vids like these than the music I normally listen to. I'm trying to be considerate to the old people  Then again, I listen to just about anything, I have some Creedence Clearwater Revival, Pink, No Doubt, Gwen Stephanie, Bob Marley, Katy Perry, Timbaland and Tweak to name a few weirder ones. I guess I should mention that I love Queen too and that I listen to epic orchestral stuff :thumb:
ps. Part 3 is uploading, hopefully the new music is allowed.
-
Aaaaaand the new music is not allowed :bawl: I wish I know what would work before I tried it... ZZ Top stuff seems to be allowed so you'll have to be happy with lots of that then. I'll find something else that will work this weekend.
-
I guess I should mention that I love Queen too and that I listen to epic orchestral stuff :thumb:
I take it you're on to this already then Juv?
http://www.planetrock.com/news/rock-news/queen-fans-bid-to-get-freddie-another-number-1-2421/
-
Use a band called thousand foot krutch! They are christian rock and although not the best you won't have it flagged because they enjoy spreading the love ;)
p.s. I'm not Christian lol.
-
nah Ptarmigan, I'm not that fanatic :)
I have some music from a South African punk rock band that you'll just have to learn to love lol They are humorous and quite good and I doubt there will be any copyright issues :thumb:
-
look forward to watching the next vid!
-
I made a little tester video to test which music will work. It takes me less than a minute to check which music will work now and saves a lot of time because I don't need to upload a whole video only to find out the music can't be used. Some of the music has no restrictions, some display adds and some are completely blocked, even if the tracks are from the same album. It's a bit of a hit and miss thing.
Anyway, scroll up, Part 3 is now finally available :lala:
Part 4 is done too and just needs to get uploaded, will probably happen somewhere during the day or tonight (the latter being the most likely.)
I'll finish Part 5 today so that should go up in the next couple of days.
-
Great video :thumb:
It must have been a challenge avoiding the walkers, cyclists (who seem to spend most of the time pushing or fixing something), vehicles and lots of poo! These videos have done two things, 1. make me homesick and 2. given me a kick in the bum to get another 'strom!!
-
Loving these Juvecu.
Thanks for getting my lovely bike in as well, I appreciated that no end, I like seeing my bike :)
Canny wait for the last one, that's the one where we went up that mad rocky bit, aye? woohoo
-
Yep, Part 4 has a very comical fall by numptynut (he had to prove that he deserves his name!) and Part 5 is the rough stuff :thumb:
-
Juvecu, these videos are great. Can't wait for the last one... :thumb:
-

These are brilliant vids Juv, it's just like the TV show "... and in next weeks thrilling episode..."
Can't wait to see Part 4, didn't realise you'd got in on camera. One minute you were all behind me the next I'm on my own! It was only when I'd turned and come back that Doris told me what had happened. I realised the next day I was supposed to tell you all that is where the Stanage Edge trail starts.......just as well we didn't go for it! lol lol
-
Juvecu, these videos are great. Can't wait for the last one... :thumb:
all credit juv, they are great, like the south african punk too :lala: :lala: :lala:
got 8 lanes to check accross shropshire tomoro on the way to black mountains, then up the devils staircase tues or wed
so the scouting begins
found a biker friendly B&B near rhayadar that's only 17 quid a night too so will see what room they have for next year as a possibility
as I said before, chomping at the bit for vid no 5, although his numptiness throwing his arms up in disbelief will be worth a smile too
I try my first camera run tomoro too so I'm bound to tumble at some point :-)
soon  :thumb: :auto-dirtbike: :auto-dirtbike: :auto-dirtbike:
-
Some great videos , you've put a lot of effort into them with the editing etc .......Very good..
-
The biggest problem making these is finding music that is allowed on Youtube :GRR:
-
Part 4! Look for numtynut's comical fall
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nQeptucd9WA
-
Love it, I forgot all about the White Stripes as well, I have that album.
Wetting myself in anticipation of part 5 now.
:lala:
-
Best one so far in my opinion Juve!! Well done..
-
I uploaded Part 5 last night as well, but the Queen song I had in it is being blocked in Germany, Canada and the US. I deleted it and will find other music to use because we gave people on the forums from Germany & Canada. Will either upload it later during the day or tonight :thumb:
-
I think Al Murray should've sorted that for you when he made his 'Road To Berlin' documentary series....
I mean, what do the Germans know about music......? Hasselhoff FFS!!!
-
Never thought it would be such a mission getting music that can be played on YouTube without being blocked in Germany. Just about everything I try is specifically blocked in Germany and no where else. Since that's the case and I'm all out of options I'm going back the Queen song. If you live in Germany/Canada and you really want to see it, send me a PM and I will sort you out with a download of the original.
Part 5 is now uploading.
-
Great videos Juv'! :auto-dirtbike: I've just watched part 3 & 4, they're really good. It's good to see you caught numptynut having his tumble :haha: .
Thanks for sharing them.
-
DOHHHH!
Thought I'd got away with it!! Only 3rd in a line of 12 with cameras at the ready sh1t!!
Left foot down or right foot down?.....oooops too late should have been right - no road there!!!
Thanks for help picking up. No damage just dented pride.
Great day though all the same!
  :neen: :neen:  :wtf:
-
And finally, Part 5, the rough stuff! Enjoy :thumb:

Wahey ....ef'in fantastic. Brings back memories.
Well done Juv great vids.
Thanks
:auto-dirtbike: :auto-dirtbike: :auto-dirtbike:
:haha: :haha: :neen: :neen: to 4 x 4's
-
I love the last bit, up that hill, doesn't look so steep on video does it.
That was proper offroad.
Thanks for taking so much time over these Juvecu, we all like our bike porn, and you are our main supplier lately :)
-
Looked like a tyre chewer !
-
It was, my rear tyre has loads of small shallow cuts in it, all about 3 to 6 mm long, but no deeper than about 1-2 mm. Probably not that deep any more, done more than a week of commuting since
-
Absolutely fantastic vids Juv!!!!!!! That last one looked absolutely incredible, still got a massive grin on my face now just watching it. absolutely gutted though that I missed that last bit.
Hutchie or ptarmigan, you're going to have to show me where that is!!
-
Spent alot of time watching all the vids, even the thought of them makes me grin.
Cracking job folks. :thumb:
Great memories
-
:auto-dirtbike:  I've just watched the stromtrekker videos thanks to a little extra work from Juvecu  . They're all really good! :ty:
I still haven't washed the peak district off the wee. I might get round to it one day before strom trekking 3?? I've got some Rat Killer for the next trip to wash sven's port down.

lol lol lol
-
Juvecu,
Brilliant, brilliant videos especially part 5. Have been waiting all week for that one. Just brings a huge grin to my face seeing that last rocky bit again.
Thank you for taking the time to do them. :thumb:
& once again thank you to Hutchie & Ptarmigan for their time & effort to organise it. :thumb:
Just a couple of things that I learnt from the Stromtrekkers week-end.....
1. Local knowledge is everything (I could have ridden around the peak district for days & not found half of those tracks)
2. Going slow is really good fun.
3. Need to take more port next time.....
:obscene-drinkingchug:
OK maybe not the last one...
-
fantastic videos specialy the last one . would love to see a map of the trip
-
The maps are in this thread (http://www.v-strom.co.uk/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=48&t=9927) :thumb:

Glad it was a soft landing, I'm sure everyone on here has done it at some point.
:shy: :shy: :shy: I won't go too much into an incident I had with my first bike a 1974 Honda CB550, it's centre stand arm and some concrete steps when I was late for school! I'll just say it was a rather ineresting bike/rider ballet! :shy: :shy: :shy:
-
The CB550 is one of my favourite old bikes, wish I could find a good condition one with the black & orange paint scheme and the twin megaphone style cylinders both sides for a fair price. Like this one below, isn't it lovely? I would swap my CX + cash for one of those without a blink, even if the CX is completely restored

Lots of money for a good example though, check this (http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201104378332804) advert. £5k!

It's a beauty.
My mate had a mint one until he lost it on a bend and wrapped it in a jacket of metal railings. He broke his leg and the bike was written off.
There is a member of the Gloucetser Bike club who collects bikes and I understand he has a special edition version but I can't see him wanting to part with it :(

I saw a newly restored GT750 (Kettle) the other day (warning stickers and all) at the bloke that did my MOT. It stood out amongst all the other alike looking sports and race bikes he had around in the shop and looks like a proper bike should :thumb:

The CB550 is one of my favourite old bikes, wish I could find a good condition one with the black & orange paint scheme and the twin megaphone style cylinders both sides for a fair price.
