From 10:55 for about 20 seconds shows the utter precision of Ptarmigan and she who has yet to be named, in meeting, how slick looking is that wee section of film :)

That was quite enjoyable with a coffee, I'm starting editing my videos :lala: I renamed the thread to "Stromtrekkers II Videos", lets see if we can keep all the videos that everyone made for this in one place. If separate threads pop up I'll merge them into this one. I'll do the same with a pictures thread in the Pictures section :thumb:

Been going through the videos I took, we got lucky, the camera died just after I went up the steep rocky hill past the 2 4x4s that looked a bit stuck. Unfortunately didn't get anything after that which would have been great for a vid, but next time I will try to remember to charge it more regularly. Will stick up vids later this week after working through it all :thumb:

I can't get my videos uploaded, at over 23 minutes and over 1.5 gig, so I'll break them into chunks, and miss out the odd wee bit for brevity :(

Mad Phil by the way, deserves a medal for being on road tyres on his V  , how we laughed.
If you don't pee yourself (or at least laugh) at the end when I 'CRASH' , you have no right being on a bike site, hehehe

Great vids Hutchie, good enough res to watch full-screen, great roads some of which are in such a bad state they could be in Oxfordshire!!!!

Two little points, the 08 Wee in front of you - the indicators didn't seem so bright, and Juvecu's Wee is silly-wide with those sidecases - XP wide!!!
Title: Re: Stromtrekkers II Videos

Was looking at that myself, they don't feel that wide when you're on the bike though. They are 40 litres and wider rather than flatter, if that makes sense. The good thing about them is that they leave a bit of room for the good lady to get her feet on the pegs without them being in the way much, Givi ones are almost on the rear pegs.

Worked through most of the video, looks like it will be 5 parts which are each about 10 to 15 mins, just need to add music, titles, a "starring" page, maybe some captions and upload them.

what is it with you blokes and 'Top Gear Driving CD musak' ? eh? You need your earholes educating, it's all those rubber things you stick in your ears.

Get a whole Hawkwind album on there, nothing else is good enough.

Or a bit of New Kids on the Block, they are really gorgeous.

At a push, some Stranglers or some brilliant Hot Chip.

Thank you and I am now wearing my flameproof string undies, so fire away girls  :neen:

Extreme ways beckons me thinks.  You know Moby re-mixed that track for each Bourne movie?  This is almost the best mix: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VTIkDmNVJeA (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VTIkDmNVJeA)

Title: Re: Stromtrekkers II Videos
Post by: Glider65 on August 22, 2011, 21:55:04
You have to get a youtube account - I think google force you to have one of theirs.  Doesn't cost anything, but they like to know who you are so they can offer you targeted advertising and the like - don't forget when creating your videos to put your real name on them so that you can enforce copyright and blow you cover ( - that's my little problem!)

Numptynut did well with my camera, though it developed an additional fault and stopped storing video after about 10 min.  Only sound.  I'm editing it now, and will post shortly.

Many thanks to Numptynut for being such a good sport and doing the camera thing for me!

As mentioned, you need to have a YouTube/Google account (Google owns YouTube, authentication is linked between the two.) Then go to my channel (http://www.youtube.com/user/Juvecu) and subscribe, you can select to get email when I add new stuff.

looking forward to seeing them all.

I've just subscribed to your channel, but like last time I tried to view the videos from stromtrekking 1 I was presented with "Unfortunately, this SME music-content is not available in Germany because GEMA has not granted the respective music publishing rights".

Any chance you can do the hosting thing again? or I'll send you a couple of disks in a SAE.

I could view Hutchie's vid OK, why is this? answers on a postcard pls.
Title: Re: Stromtrekkers II Videos

You get this with some Youtube content.  Essentially it's because Juvecu has added music that Germans aren't allowed to listen to.

We'll see what happens with the music I added to my video (Gary Hoey's version of Hocus Pocus) which should be up sometime tomorrow!

I can't watch it on my laptop but I can on my phone. can't make out the text and it's not the best picture, but at least I get to see the video. Someone told me today that if I change my proxy settings I should be able to see videos on you tube, etc? I'll definitely have to google that one as I'm a bit of a computer melon.
If it's easy done Juv' could you put the videos on a host (thingy)  like the vids from stromtrekking 1?

Uploading the vids will be a bit of trouble, they are 1080p wide screen vids, 15 mins equals 1gb and there are 5 parts this time. You might be able to set your YouTube account's location to the UK to watch the vids. Let me know if that doesn't work and I will see if I can find an alternative.

Juv, sorry bout this , but it doesn't run well on my computer (about 8 years old  :shy: ) at 360 even, do you know of a way I can get it down to whatever 240 ?  HD = no chance on this thing! I'm working on getting our newer computer running, so might just have to wait!

I'm a bit of an obsessive mirror checker, particularly when there's someone riding behind me. I tried to remember to only use my eyes when recording, but it's a deeply ingrained habit to turn my head too. I was thinking of mounting the camera on the bike next time, but haven't decided where and how yet.

Actually, Meatloaf and U2 isn't really my type of music, had to download the Meatloaf stuff to put it in the vids (and deleted it afterwards ) My usual music is more towards the alternative/rock side of things, like Godsmack, Creed, Live, Bush, Metallica, Skunk Ananzie, AC/DC, Evanescence and such. I'm digging out the oddities in my music collection as they make better riding music for vids like these than the music I normally listen to. I'm trying to be considerate to the old people  Then again, I listen to just about anything, I have some Creedence Clearwater Revival, Pink, No Doubt, Gwen Stephanie, Bob Marley, Katy Perry, Timbaland and Tweak to name a few weirder ones. I guess I should mention that I love Queen too and that I listen to epic orchestral stuff :thumb:

ps. Part 3 is uploading, hopefully the new music is allowed.

Aaaaaand the new music is not allowed :bawl: I wish I know what would work before I tried it... ZZ Top stuff seems to be allowed so you'll have to be happy with lots of that then. I'll find something else that will work this weekend.

Use a band called thousand foot krutch! They are christian rock and although not the best you won't have it flagged because they enjoy spreading the love ;)

p.s. I'm not Christian lol.

nah Ptarmigan, I'm not that fanatic :)

I have some music from a South African punk rock band that you'll just have to learn to love lol They are humorous and quite good and I doubt there will be any copyright issues :thumb:

I made a little tester video to test which music will work. It takes me less than a minute to check which music will work now and saves a lot of time because I don't need to upload a whole video only to find out the music can't be used. Some of the music has no restrictions, some display adds and some are completely blocked, even if the tracks are from the same album. It's a bit of a hit and miss thing.

Anyway, scroll up, Part 3 is now finally available :lala:

Part 4 is done too and just needs to get uploaded, will probably happen somewhere during the day or tonight (the latter being the most likely.)

I'll finish Part 5 today so that should go up in the next couple of days.

Great video :thumb:

It must have been a challenge avoiding the walkers, cyclists (who seem to spend most of the time pushing or fixing something), vehicles and lots of poo!  These videos have done two things, 1. make me homesick and 2. given me a kick in the bum to get another 'strom!!

These are brilliant vids Juv, it's just like the TV show "... and in next weeks thrilling episode..."

Can't wait to see Part 4, didn't realise you'd got in on camera. One minute you were all behind me the next I'm on my own! It was only when I'd turned and come back that Doris told me what had happened. I realised the next day I was supposed to tell you all that is where the Stanage Edge trail starts.......just as well we didn't go for it!  lol  lol

I uploaded Part 5 last night as well, but the Queen song I had in it is being blocked in Germany, Canada and the US. I deleted it and will find other music to use because we gave people on the forums from Germany & Canada. Will either upload it later during the day or tonight :thumb:

I think Al Murray should've sorted that for you when he made his 'Road To Berlin' documentary series....

I mean, what do the Germans know about music......? Hasselhoff FFS!!!
Title: Re: Stromtrekkers II Videos
Post by: Juvecu on August 29, 2011, 19:57:02
Never thought it would be such a mission getting music that can be played on YouTube without being blocked in Germany. Just about everything I try is specifically blocked in Germany and no where else. Since that's the case and I'm all out of options I'm going back the Queen song. If you live in Germany/Canada and you really want to see it, send me a PM and I will sort you out with a download of the original.

Part 5 is now uploading.

Juvecu,
Brilliant, brilliant videos especially part 5. Have been waiting all week for that one. Just brings a huge grin to my face seeing that last rocky bit again.
Thank you for taking the time to do them. :thumb:

& once again thank you to Hutchie & Ptarmigan for their time & effort to organise it. :thumb:

Just a couple of things that I learnt from the Stromtrekkers week-end.....
1. Local knowledge is everything (I could have ridden around the peak district for days & not found half of those tracks)
2. Going slow is really good fun.
3. Need to take more port next time.....
 :obscene-drinkingchug:
OK maybe not the last one...

Glad it was a soft landing, I'm sure everyone on here has done it at some point.

:shy:  :shy:  :shy:  I won't go too much into an incident I had with my first bike a 1974 Honda CB550, it's centre stand arm and some concrete steps when I was late for school!  I'll just say it was a rather ineresting bike/rider ballet! :shy:  :shy:  :shy:

The CB550 is one of my favourite old bikes, wish I could find a good condition one with the black & orange paint scheme and the twin megaphone style cylinders both sides for a fair price. Like this one below, isn't it lovely? I would swap my CX + cash for one of those without a blink, even if the CX is completely restored

Lots of money for a good example though, check this (http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201104378332804) advert. £5k!

It's a beauty.

My mate had a mint one until he lost it on a bend and wrapped it in a jacket of metal railings. He broke his leg and the bike was written off.

There is a member of the Gloucetser Bike club who collects bikes and I understand he has a special edition version but I can't see him wanting to part with it :(

I saw a newly restored GT750 (Kettle) the other day (warning stickers and all) at the bloke that did my MOT. It stood out amongst all the other alike looking sports and race bikes he had around in the shop and looks like a proper bike should :thumb:
