Mobile phone update
«

As you all know ... this week I have been targeting drivers using mobile devices... We are using unmarked vehicles that are fitted with GoPro cameras ... I personally have given 56 tickets out this first week ... 12 of them have been lorry drivers which makes me sad ... it means I have to send the report to the Traffic Commissioner who will undoubtedly suspend the licence.... why do people do it ??.
We are a small unit with 9 officers and we all have had roughly the same and we still have next week to go.
The good news is we are keeping the lorry ... so don't use your phone in London .... I'll be there.

It's an epidemic. People just can not leave them alone. As for people who get paid to drive, if they need to be in contact, why on earth do so few of them use full vox/bluetooth equipment? Not ideal, but cheaper than not working.

When riding through the traffic on both approaches to the blackwall tunnel I see many people using their mobiles. The best bit is some of them are attempting to change lanes while looking down at their phones.
Also , many of them are smoking weed ...

Nice one ..
. I still reckon you'd catch even more by being plain clothed on a normal motorcycle. Nothing like the stealth tactics.

"You could do the same on bicycles for a fraction of the cost and considerably less pollution".
That's you told you slacker. Quickly followed by a statement of "12mpg" from a unit
. Maybe in coffee love, never in diesel.
I take my hat off to you Holmsey, you must have the patience of a Saint.

You can't do what I do on a 50 mph road on a bicycle.... I'll have legs like Garth keeping up with them.

Apparently that's a little bit over the top according to the tree hugging groups...... but I agree ....
My views are not the views of the Metropolitan Police Service...... just saying
